Great points here Chris. As Cyclone fans we should enjoy this ride. Literally in my entire fandom, I never thought I would see the day that GameDay was in Ames. I am beyond ecstatic that this has come true.
It is going to be a fun one...

- Teams are good/relevant in both leagues
- Fantastic individual players on both sides
- Terrific tailgate experience

Sorry to hear about your uncle, CW. Nearly all of my uncles are Hawkeye fans as well. I generally have some great back and forth with them, as well. As long as neither side is just obnoxious, it's why games like these are fun.
This is going to be a fun week. I'm expecting a much sharper team on Saturday than the one we saw in the season opener.

You must not be on twitter. I'm sure it's the vocal minority, but this is definitely out there in full force.
Plus, they think the guest picker will be an Iowa fan such as Aston Kutcher. I have no clue how ESPN decides on that person, but if he has any say, there's no way JP will allow them to pick an Iowa fan.
You are correct. I am very much off the Twitter and if this is what's happening on the Twitter then I know I've made the right decision.
First, sorry for the loss of your uncle. Second, nice article. I enjoyed reading this. I think if any Iowa fan says Gameday is at ISU purely because of Iowa is delusional and dumb. I think we're going to learn a lot from both squads. Iowa will learn a lot if it's defense is for real or if it's just because they played two hapless foes. Iowa State will learn if it's offensive line is in big trouble or if its fixable. We shall see. Enjoy the week and Gameday, it's super fun.
Advice for Gameday: Get there early early so you can get a good spot up front! I still have my hard hat from when Gameday came to IC for Ohio State game. And then we got our A**hole kicked in. lol.

I didn't see all of the Miami game, was at the Rutgers game, and wondered exactly the same. Rutgers O was really bad, Iowas D was really good, figured some of both were true. Rutgers was one dimensional, both their QBs were, um, bad.
I thought our OL run blocking looked improved against UNI, was more concerned w/ pass blocking. Definitely a progression I want to see more of. The OL seemed to get better through the 2018 season.
How early would you recommend?
And thanks for being a reasonable opposing fan. I love CFB and had a good discussion with my hawk-fan-buddy about rivalries and opposing teams at the Iowa/Rutgers game last week. I think he put it best, "It's like this, I like Coke. I know RC Cola exists, and some people really like the stuff. It's not for me, that's OK. I don't need to scream obscenities at RC Cola fans." I told him I like Pepsi... (and he's been on a super troll run on Twitter since, so reality and persona seem to be split with him... LOL)

I don't know really to be honest as i've never been to Ames for tailgating. I know in IC it's like a sport and one has to assume ISU isn't behind because hey, we're from Iowa
but, we arrived around 5:30AM down there to get in line (I think they let us in at 7:30 or 8AM). Which sucks, no beer, no nothing. However, looking back i'd definitely brought shooters with me.

Not a problem, I come in peace and I love to talk sports, especially college football, basketball and wrestling. I work for Webspec Design in Des Moines so there is a lot of Cyclone fans there as well mixed with some Hawkeyes, It's fun banter! Totally agree with your analogy. Yeah there is quite a bit of twitter trolls on there from both schools. I try to stay reasonable and just kick it and shoot the chitchat. It'll be a fun game. I hope my dad gets out the hospital this week so we can enjoy it at the house. I've watched the last two Hawk games from the hospital with him.
