Texas vs. LSU

Not sure who to cheer for in this one, I hate Texas but a hate the SEC. I guess go Longhorns
LSU for sure!

If Iowa State does not win the Big Xii but they make the Big Xii Championship Game or are a strong 3rd, they will be fighting with Texas, Oklahoma and others to try to land in the Sugar and / or Cotton Bowls. We need OU, Texas and the other Big Xii contenders to drop as many games as possible. Texas beating LSU does NOTHING for Iowa State, but LSU winning might just help the Cyclones down the line!

I don't hate Texa$. Probably should and might if they start dominating again. However, today I will root for Bevo to trample LSU.

This is a Bi game for the overall perception of the conference. Especially with E$PN and their crown. Getting a team into the playoffs would do more to bump up us a bowl game than anything else.

I do not care what people think of the conference. I care about Iowa State having the best or next best record to snag an at-large spot in the Sugar Bowl (if the Champion goes to the Playoffs) or in the Cotton Bowl if the Champion goes to the Sugar (if the Cyclones do not win the Big Xii). The Cyclones have been close the past two years, and I think they have a shot this year. Texas losing is good for ISU. OU losing is good for ISU - if the Cyclones are 9-3 or 10-2 and in the hunt for at-large spot in the NY6 Bowl Games. Think like an ISU Champion not a Big Xii Honk! :)

This is a tough call, but I'd love to see both Texas and ISU being undefeated when Texas comes to Ames in November. GameDay would come for that one for sure, unless they're scared off by colder weather.

If both Texas and OU lose then no one is going to the playoffs. And we are not getting picked above those teams unless 2-3 wins better. OU is the team that is down and will lose some games this year.

Our is down? Care to elaborate?

NY6 Games are decided by rankings. If Iowa State is even 1 game better than either of those teams (especially if ISU has a head to head win), they will probably be ranked ahead of them. Look at it this way, If OU rolls into the Playoffs, having an ugly Texas with a worse record (even 1 game) benefits Iowa State. I hope LSU pounds Texas so hard it hurts their daddies and Texas folds their tent in the Big Xii for the year. There is no way that Texas winning helps Iowa State when it comes to trying to land a NY6 at-large spot.

I'll make a prediction. Texas wins and SEC honks will say LSU just wasn't motivated to be there.

I know it’s a bye week, but if people would start threads in the right forum instead of ISU Football, that would be great. The Moronhouse thread is another boring example. I read a page and a half before I realized there was no real tie to ISU Football.

That said, go Longhorns—but I think their defense is pretty green at most spots.
