All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

How is this funny @HOU_Blue

Since Ferentz took over at Iowa:

Iowa
153-101 (60.2%)
2 Conference championships
3 BCS Bowls
5 AP Top 10 finishes
7 AP Top 25 finishes
23 All-Americans

Kansas State
156-98 (61.4%)
2 Conference championships
2 BCS Bowls
3 AP Top 10 finishes
7 AP Top 25 finishes
17 All-Americans

Not sure how you can claim Kansas State has been a better program over this time, and remember - this includes the first three years while Ferentz was building back Iowa’s football program, and Snyder had already been established at Kansas State for about 10 years.

Well this is awkward

I also don’t know how many Top 10 finishes Iowa has in the AP poll either, although I could probably make an accurate guess. Not sure what that has to do with anything anyways- the general population doesn’t really use advanced metrics or ratings. That doesn’t mean that the AP Poll is better or more accurate.

In the last 10 seasons (including this season), so from 2019 back to the 2010 season, Iowa has played Ohio State twice: 2013 and 2017.

Ohio State has played Oklahoma twice in that same time period: 2016 and 2017

Iowa lost to Ohio State in Kinnick during the 2010 season.

Not really. I had to look up the AP finishes for both teams, and I am not using them to compare the quality of teams. The final AP poll is useful in measuring how successful a team’s season was. It is not useful for determining which team is/was better than another. That is entirely consistent with the post I made earlier. It was a cute attempt at a gotcha moment though.

Why aren't you using Sagarin like you prefer? Why AP poll?

Because we aren’t debating who had the better team between Iowa and Kansas State each year dating back to 1999. If we had been, I would have used Sagarin.

So AP poll is used to determine who is the better program and Sagarin is for individual seasons?

The AP poll is useful for determining how successful a team’s season was because it is largely based on a team’s W/L record. Sagarin is better for determining which team was better in a given season.

So how many seasons was Iowa better than Kansas State in that time frame?

I don’t know, and I don’t really feel like taking the time to look it up. If you really want to know you could check it yourself.

So you felt like taking the time to look up a poll you don't like but won't do it for your go to one? Lol that says a lot about Sagarin

Luck of the draw I guess.
Yeah that's what I was essentially saying. It's not Iowa's fault, it's just a break they get to catch. If Iowa State didn't have to play Oklahoma every year I wouldn't complain about it either lol.
