UH Cougars @ OU Sooners

Actually the spy worked well until Vance went out.

They needed the spy up the field. They would use the 3 man front to take away his right. He would often roll backwards then to the left. A god point to blast him with the LB.

OU showing lots of trick plays and such on offense.....really dumb. They should have protected those plays from video tape to use later in November and really surprise an unsuspecting Kansas. Our coaches were so much smarter to not run any crazy, creative offensive plays so our future opponents would have them on tape.

This game has been boring. Still think OU has taken a step backwards on offense. Not just Hurt but they lost the OL, kicker, etc.. Defense is slightly better

That isn't a problem when you have more than 10 plays. Just pick or create a few new ones each week

Wow, it hurts to watch that Hurts interview. What a d-bag. Perhaps fake a little bit of graciousness?
He has played for the Ultimate Task Master at Alabama and has 2 SEC Championship Rings, 1 NC Ring, 1 Peach Bowl Championship Ring, 1 Sugar Bowl Championship Ring and 1 Orange Bowl Championship Ring, and he was the SEC Offensive Player of the Year as a Freshman and SEC Championship Game MVP last year off the bench. Point is when he talks about playing to a standard, he is talking the talk, because he has walked the Championship walk. He wants Oklahoma to strive to the standard that he learned at Alabama not to cruise through a sloppy Regular Season and lose in the Semi-Final Bowl Game. I think he is being a great team motivator to never be satisfied (even after having an historic night) like he learned under Saban and wants Oklahoma to be BETTER than they have been and can be. That is SCARY. Holly Rowe is a pro, and she knows he was not being a douche bag. I say kudos to Jalen! He was something-something tonight, and he can be better!

He was basically trashing his team ... d-bag. Nothing wrong with saying that the team needs to improve. He wasn’t talking about himself.

His Coach basically said the same thing in the next interview. Jalen has brought a new attitude to OU that is going to be scary for the rest of the Big Xii. He was chosen Team Captain by his peers for a reason. He is a Winner and a Champion. Even when he was dethroned at Alabama, he handled it with grace. Never pouted, never made it about himself, supported Tua, supported his team and his program. The Alabama fans, teams and coaches reciprocated. Every time he came in a game last year, he received a STANDING OVATION. Alabama won the SEC Championship Game because Jalen was the ultimate TEAM player @ Alabama. He now has a new program, and he showed on the field what needs to be done to get better (himself) and off the field (held his team to a Championship standard). He is a boss.

I had my doubts about Hurts at OU but last night he was intense and gave a spark to an already very elite OU team. Hopefully we see that same spark at ISU in a couple weeks.

He just took his non-pouting, supportive ball and went to OU.

After he stayed for the entire year, took care of mop up duty all year in the 4th quarter, GRADUATED and helped lead Alabama to a come from behind SEC Championship from the Bullpen when Tua went down with 2 hobbled ankles and a gimpy knee. You will NEVER hear an Alabama fan say anything bad about the way Jalen handled himself after losing the starting QB job, and they ALL wish him well at OU.

This is exactly what I was thinking while watching the game. Why is OU showing so much?

Then I remembered.... oh that's right, they want to win the game.

CMC talked like he respected UNI as a football team all week, but truthfully had no respect for them and figured he could still win fairly easy without showing anything whatsoever on offense. Nearly backfired because UNI came in with confidence, no nerves at all, and played to win.... and nearly did.

Might change if he leads OU to a title over Bama.

I've thought it all along, but Mike Stoops was just stealing money at Oklahoma.

I wish he were the D coordinator at UNI the other day. Their defense was in position and strong in their angles and that's just not Mike's style.

OU also has speed on their oline.

I agree that the 'hold your cards' thing doesn't make sense since there's plenty of film on what Purdy can do and what ISU generally does (but watch out for the shovel pass!) and after an understandable close 1st half, there needed to be less ****ing around and getting things done.

But take out some dropped passes and bad penalties and ISU wins by a couple of TDs Saturday while still staying vanilla.

If by Baylor we're still seeing Purdy used as a pocket passer and ISU not valuing possessions by simply picking up the 3rd and 4th and short, it's a bad sign vs. lofty expectations by the fans, but still keeps the 7-8 wins on the table.

Like all first games, I draw few conclusions. Dana losing is always fun though. OU's defense is better. How much so, I'm not sure. B12 quarterbacks won't miss those passes that UH did early in the game. OU's offense was playing against a marginal defensive unit. OU's game at UCLA will give us a better view.
