Just Curious. Is Pat Forde Always A Patronizing Jerk?

I don’t pay as much attention to media personalities as some people, but this really struck me. Who the hell is Pat Forde?

I was pretty much enjoying a reasonably interesting article, when I ran across Iowa State at #8, I wasn’t terribly surprised, though I didn’t really agree with his take.

But the very last paragraph of the that section was pure, unadulterated jack***.

I read that this morning too. And was wondering where in the hell that came from from a national sportswriter...

I like Forde but that is super weird for someone like him to talk **** about a football team when he’s supposed to be neutral on things like that.

Just laugh about it. Yesterday wasn't awesome and didn't help change perceptions about Iowa State football. Go out in two weeks and smack Iowa in the mouth. That's how you can change the narrative.

Except that's how he was when he worked for ESPN as well. That's just who he is.

I think the days are over when people expect sportswriters to merely report on the game and stay neutral. They editorialize a little bit for added context and color - like when someone pronounces Tennessee losing to Georgia State as its "worst loss ever" - and usually it's not a big deal. But when it descends into mockery, as Forde did with that "little brother" quip, that's a few steps too far for me.

Most of these guys revealed who they were years ago during the realignment crises. Some of them, Forde included, were almost gleeful at the potential for the Big 12 to be blown up and mocked schools like ISU that might be left out. I don't mind an impartial analysis that says we might not be a big enough brand to survive realignment...but I don't need to be made fun of for it, either.

it wasnt a dig on our relationship to iowa
it was a dig on our ability to win when we arent the scrappy underdog
i agree with him in some respects
we are a nasty team when we are the scrappy underdog
when we arent like drake and ksu last year and uni this year we dont seem to play the same

That's the national perception of our two programs and performances like yesterday don't do anything to change that. It's BS but it is what it is. What really sucks is if we do beat Iowa it will only reinforce it further.

I think he is saying Iowa is little brother. Or that is how it reads.
