I apologize if this has been posted elsewhere, but I thought this was an interesting article on gocyclones.com:

Meltdowns

Other than negative rep and the season ticket counter, I think he covered most of it.

he writes about cyclone football or cyclone message boards? ....

lame read. Sorry.

-keep.

Completely agree. The older I get, the less of a "fanatic" I become because the players seem to look younger and younger to me and anymore I see them as kids and I refuse to tear them down.

not a bad read, players shouldn't read into what fans say. most people who say stuff like that never played a snap of football beyond hs and have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. be a man and get over what you read or hear about. dont let one person or a handful of idiots ruin your life. if this is something that truely bothers you as a player, well good luck after college, becuase life is a ****-ton harder than what he read about himself online!

Great flippin article that is 100% on the money.

Too bad some of our fans are too thick headed to understand this. All fans think they have the right to totally belittle and talk down kids that are playing football for "FREE" (yes I understand they get a full ride).

I thought our fans were better then that, but for some reason, that Hawkeye fan trait is kicking in on most.

I hated the talk about LJ and having him kicked off the team. I hate how we hear about a recruit and say, "well, he should be good on the bench. I really can't wait till we get this other guy"

Looks like players and potential players all read message boards...

So to the Monty's of the board and so many others I could name, please stay classy.

I also saw on a cyclone message board that you can buy Name Brand shoes at discount prices.. based on some of the threads started.

Everyone needs to work on this.

Great post! A message board is the last place to go to get your ego stroked!!

True, I think posters need to think about what they say about these kids. But I also think the players need to learn to ignore comments like that on MESSAGE BOARDS.

Any idiot with a computer can post anything they want. And most of them are still upset from not playing enough on their JV team.

He runs a 5.78. That is slower than sh*t

Trust me he doesn't run a 5.78. He can really move for a guy his size

They aren't so much going to had bulk as trying most of that fat into muscle. at the least he drops some "fat weight" and adds muscle weight.:skeptical:

Fascinating, I had my eye on this guy from the summer roster. I really enjoy this trend of Chizik's of grabbing JC players with three years of eligibility remaining. In Hicks' case, he even has a redshirt left, so I'm guessing he spends this year working on strength and conditioning.

By the way--if it says he ran a 5.78, since the other numbers are from a combine, I'm guessing that's what he ran. That day. Not that he'll run that after a year of conditioning...just ask Lee Tibbs, or even Tuba.

if he has good footwork and can run block and pass block,a 5.78 40 is meaningless.

Not entirely-how many guys drafted by NFL teams run a 5.78? . Footspeed is not only partially a measure of explosion, but of pulling ability (anyone remember the Pro Bowl guard for the Vikings who ran a 4.58? Randall McDaniel?) as well--and this staff would really like to have some guys pulling ahead of the likes of Bo Williams.

his rival numbers are also old, he is different now

no its true. for linemen they look more at a 5-10-5 as it shows quickness instead of speed. rarely does a linemen run 40 yards... so they really dont care about that stat.

Come on Keep and yannballer...

He's a college kid...

He's not in the real world yet.... When I was in college I really didn't know how to handle myself half the time. I think you grow up more the first year out of college then you do the whole 4 years there. Unless, your on the 5 or 6 year plan.

I didn't take criticism well in college. It took me a couple years to learn how to take it and use it in a good way. And how do you feel when complete strangers bring you down??? Especially when you didn't do a dang thing wrong from the start.

On the LJ thing. He made some dumb plays. He got chewed by the coaches, made an apology. Seems he learned from it so far. He didn't need people to judge him. I wish some that would judge would take a step back and think how they would enjoy that if someone judged everything in their lives.

Out of all that, I think CycloneWarrior is the only one that crossed the line.

You can't get upset because of one garbage post.

That's true on this particular thread. However, just in the last few months I can remember posts hitting pretty hard on LJ, JJ, and even some pretty disparaging comments about JT in the last couple of days. Not only do the players read this site, we also know the recruits do (or their families - think TheCity).

And that doesn't even take into account what is said to each other. I started visiting this site for info and fun, and it's often not informative or fun.

The article, IMO, is dead on. I hope everyone takes this to heart and thinks before posting.

Frankly I would hope no players would ever read this board. People say bizarre stuff on here sometimes including myself.
