Iowa fans recognize that Stanley is good at overwhelming poor teams but is usually inept against teams that punch back. The only two games of his career where he's really shown some mettle was his perfomance against isu 2 years ago (but if we are honest that was more Wadley driving the final nail than Stanley) and the recent bowl game. A strong contingent of dissatisfied (with Stanley's pocket presence and touch) iowa fans does believe that future Stanley will not eclipse historical Stanley .

Yeah, he showed no mettle in a 31 point victory over OSU in 2017.

That OSU beatdown was memorable
He was good in that game but the opponent had rolled over dead midway through the 3rd. I'm specifically referring to games in which the opponent keeps punching back, i.e. keeps things uncomfortably close.
