All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

Like them having Stone better than Eisworth?
Going by stats alone, Eisworth is a better safety overall, however Geno might be a little better in coverage. Both are good and I personally wouldn't get mad for someone saying Stone is better.

Not sure how you can use stats for defensive players to determine who is better. That always boggles my mind.

Because Stone had 29 solo tackles compared to Eisworth's 56. Stone had 10 assisted tackles compared to Eisworth's 31. If you don't think there's some sort of difference of skill to accumulate that many more tackles then that's on you. I understand if they were close that you couldn't simply use statistics but c'mon.

No, the staff is super high on Merriweather. The Miami and Rutgers games will be big for him to get some game experience before the schedule toughens up. Despite the troll post you made in a different thread, Merriweather hasn’t had a rough camp. He’ll make some mistakes early on, but I have faith in Phil to get those cleaned up as the season wears on.

insert "you serious, Clark" gif...

ISU's Dline wasn't as good as Iowa's last year either so that has something to do with Eisworth accumulating tackles at the safety spot. Plus maybe he allowed more passes to his man for completions and thus more tackles.

Not saying any of that is all the way true, just showing you how using pure stats to compare defensive players can be very misleading. Football isn't baseball in that you can't quantify everything that makes a player good or not.

I completely agree.. But all I'm saying is that there is a pretty big difference between their stats. Like I said if they were somewhat close, you it wouldn't be fair to say who's better, but Eisworth definitely had a better year last year than Geno overall. Geno however did better in coverage.

Geno had a huge tip of a pass that won Iowa the bowl game against MSU. That won't go in the "stats" category though.

Stone didnt start until Iowa moved to the 4-2-5 alignment about halfway through the season. He was behind Hooker until Hooker moved to the cash position.

Nice. Eisworth still has 31 more total tackles than Stone and Stone has played an extra year.
