Iowa Football Recruiting

What flag am I waiving? Because I said Purdy was a surprise. I know that is shocking. Nobody pegged him as a starter-not even the head coach. He certainly was a surprise to many including the fan base. But carry on with your ********. Not sure why this is a fight you want to have but I am game.

How did he sneak up on anyone not named Oklahoma State?

He didn't say Purdy wasn't a surprise, he was saying after the Okie State game he didn't sneak up on anyone like tipper is saying. Saying he was able to sneak up on every team he played is outrageous unless you think no team scouts their opponents.

Plus the whole "he just threw it up to Butler" narrative is ridiculously lazy. Brock made a lot of incredible throws for a freshman and his vision is really really good. He's not on a bunch of pre season watch lists because he snuck up on a couple of teams last year...

Here is exactly what was posted:
"It is reasonable to think that perhaps Purdy snuck up on some teams last year. We will see. He’s a very promising quarterback"
Here is what I said:
Not sure why folks disagree w you on this. Fair question. More fair (if )it is a ga,e(game) or two but still valid question.

Absolutely baffling that my comment is causing so much angst for @CyTwins and @IASTATE07. A game or two and somehow that is shocking for some. JFC ******* read people. Seemingly this is not a complicated concept. Furthermore; one would think that nobody had the book on Purdy after his first game. The offense became more fluid and dynamic as his snap count went up. I remember Campbell saying they were slowly rolling out more pieces and iterations of the offense as his confidence grew, and the staff was more confident in him.

Twice now you've tried to explain it without actually explaining how he snuck up on opponents. Perhaps you and cowtipper are using the wrong word.

Holy ****. Cowtipper said some teams. I said that his position is a valid question if saying that after a game or two. What are you missing?

Went back and watched some highlights of the games Purdy played last year. Including the Washington State game. I can see why ISU fans are excited. There will be adjustment without Montgomery and Butler, but there will be adjustment for Stanley too without Hockenson and Fant. My opinion (worth exactly zero) is that two good teams will be playing in Ames on Sept. 21.

Okie State was definitely caught off guard with Purdy and Gundy even said he had no clue who he was. After his performance in Stillwater Purdy's name blew up so to think that he snuck up on anyone after that game would be complete BS.

I can just see it now...Dana having to burn his 53 page scouting book on Kyle Kempt the week of the ISU game and going in feeling completely unprepared

Found a photo of Dana pulling his hair out after he found out Kempt wasn't going to be starting.

My stance is he's not sneaking up on anyone after Okie State.
Ok. My stance is the more comfortable he got the more wrinkles were included and there were things that surprised some defensive coordinators.

Hell @CyTwins has told everyone over and over that the reason ISU was at a disadvantage against Iowa last year was because we did not play the first game. Is it not logical to think a true freshman might have huge improvements in his first couple of games? Possibly even surprising some as he got more comfortable.

It seems you're arguing two different things.

He didn't sneak up on anyone not named Oklahoma State. Just admit that and move on
