The Boys on Amazon Prime

Seems like if they stuck closer to the source material, it would be a better product. They could still tone down some of the gratuitous sexual content.

Most Marvel, Walking Dead, LotR, Game of Thrones...I was a book/comics nerd who knew the stories as originally told.

I don't know The Boys at all and I like it enough that it dwarfs anything else in terms of a superhero series. I've read Watchmen probably five times and while The Boys clearly is influenced by Watchmen I really like how it takes a unique and different angle with a different feel. Not sure how much the comic has in common with Watchmen. I kind of feel like even though I love Watchmen it can't work for a mass market, average viewers don't want to contemplate the meaning of the universe type of stuff.

I know nothing about the source material, but for me, the life issues that we all deal with, is what I found fascinating. The Deep and his false bravado, Mauve's internal conflicts and A-Train's fears of aging. I found those issues compounded by the pressures of who they are and what they represent, very entertaining. I would have loved to see Homelander have a Mel Gibson moment or have the The Deep go all Charlie Sheen for a bit. I think there are number of interesting avenues to take the characters without jumping to a world wide struggle.

I enjoyed the show, but man, I almost stopped watching after the airplane scene. I know it's a show, but damn, that was dark.

From an interview I saw Gramps they had to way tone down the show compared to the original content otherwise it wouldn’t be viewable.

Just finished this today: I'd recommend it whether you like super hero shows or not

Although this is probably the first show I've watched where I've said to myself, at multiple points, "is he going to kill that baby?"

The sexual stuff for sure. It's pretty over the top.

I wasnt sure I could get past the politics for some time. Of course they cant pass making fun of Des Moines even though they pro ablu couldn't find it on a map. The gore seems more over the top than the sex but I've only seen 3 or 4 episodes.

I like that, will provide me with some discipline to just not binge the whole thing in couple of nights.

I'll just wait until they are all up and watch them then. It is weird about this. I remember not being able to call one of my friends during their parents' TV shows when I was a kid because if you miss part of it, that's it. You might never see it again.

Good deal. I loved season 1. I will have to start watching season 2 immediately. Aya Cash is great. If you haven't seen You're the Worst, add that to your itinerary as well. Hilarious.
