West Virginia's review of ISU

Wasn't a terrible assessment by any means but I don't think there is much of a chance WVU beats ISU.

It's understandable that outsiders would see the loss of Montgomery and Butler has a major loss. But almost every one of these previews acts as if ISU hasn't bothered to recruit receivers and backs to replace them and just intends to have some schmuck carry the ball now with zero changes/improvements to the rest of the offense.

It'll be a tough game, but we should win. However, anything can happen.

This is something that I find hilarious.. Other team's fans bring up Montgomery and Butler, but don't even bring up their own players. For God sakes WVU fans, you lost Will Grier and one of the best WR in the big 12.. Not to mention your entire coaching staff.

To be fair, it is a write up on ISU...not WV.

Yeah that's true. I guess they could've thrown a little bit of that in the "Why WVU should be worried" section of the article, but whatever. This has also been all I've heard from the guys to the East, who think us losing DM and HB are detrimental, but them losing the Fant and Hock won't be an issue.

Always a tough task travelling that far on the road. I'd probably say 60/40 ISU chance to win at this point. Certainly not a gimmie.

You did this to yourself...

To be fair, when I look at some of our opponents, I can kinda tend to look at them that way.

Sometimes. But I’m not a journalist, I do check recruiting rankings—and you’d think that three four star recruits in Scates, Hall and Brock would be a slight clue.

“Former head coach Paul Rhodes”

I find this to be very unprofessional journalism.

Are you incapable of reading anything objectively? Much like with the Baylor write up, this is a very fair assessment and reasonably well researched. It gives us deserved respect but points out a couple legitimate concerns. And again with bringing up Iowa. Why?

I have to point out, they did say “we have a new defense”. That’s polite-speak for “we lost everybody”.

If they're doing these previews for the whole conference then the portion about what they will struggle with would get pretty old in 9 articles

To be fair, that was a terribly researched article. Hit the key names and look no further into what Iowa State currently has on the roster. We must have no one that can replace what we lost.

I'm perfectly fine reading something objectively, but I agree I might've read into it a bit much. I was also just comparing the situation to another situation, but it was dumb for bringing up Iowa so that's on me. Sorry.
