Rob Gray caught up with the football coaching staff's wives...

Great insight into a part of the athletic program, and in particular the coaching staff, that no one hears about and probably doesn't even think about (but I will now!). Great angle for a story!

Really great stuff. I LOVE these types of articles because it gives you a bit of an idea on what goes on behind the scenes. It’s fun to hear from the wives since you know they play a big role in whether they stick around.

Yep...when media starts thinking that CMC will leave if some other job opens up just know it’s mostly not up to the coach..lol.. Having 4 school age kids and knowing that ISU and JP is the school and AD that took the family from oh $300k a year to over $3 million a year goes a long long way.

Great read - good to hear about the family side of this. I think this is something that makes ISU so attractive to the coaches. Not saying all of them will stay forever, but I think the type of program Campbell is building here will make it hard for his staff to leave... This is not just a job and a paycheck for these guys. I think they all know this is a unique opportunity.

I can't remember who it was but I once heard a college coach saying he wanted Assistant Coaches who married attractive women. His theory was they were better recruiters because they didn't settle for average when finding a wife.

I guess those pictures explain why this staff is so good at recruiting.

"I wasn’t even that familiar with the fan base or kind of what they were known for, but all of a sudden, the sirens start going off and they start doing the smoke and the flames go up. I am not kidding, I’ll remember that moment probably for the rest of my life. It was such an incredible experience just seeing that whole stadium just light up. I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life, so every time that we go somewhere and we talk about Iowa State, that is the memory I have of our fan base. So when I think of game day and all of those things approaching, to me it’s incredibly exciting. I’m so excited.”

Alright, LETS. FU*KING. GO.

30 Days.

That's probably the best article I've read from CF.

I agree with this! Everybody and all recruits should read this article, you will really understand how the Campbell's, as a couple, know exactly what they want! I for one am glad they are really good at what they are doing!

We need more Rob Gray stuff!
