Iowa Football Recruiting

I personally find it weird how much credit fans give coaches for kids making it to the NFL. I'm not saying that coaches don't have an influence but give the kids credit for working their tails off to get better.

Absolutely it is on the kid to put in the work. If it was just coaching then top end coaches would have all their players drafted.

It takes both.

Also hearing that Harrell and Twedt are pretty close and that Harrell has been working on him. Not sure if it will work or not.

I love the Parker losing the Purdue game just keeps getting ignored. Purdue

and I love how you ignore that Iowa had a tougher schedule in 2017 which why Iowa was better than isu by winning the same number of games and winning head to head.

It is become apparent that just because you say something over and over doesn’t make it true.

I'd be surprised if Twedt flips. Playing time angle scares me a bit but he apparently loves Campbell

It's definitely a thorough process in which both the coaches and players get credit, but the credit and blame falls more in line with the kids.

The biggest thing for me is how much time he spends in Ames this fall. He's literally next door, so if he's at all or most of the home games, I think it bodes well for us. The Gunnerson stuff has me a bit more apprehensive about his recruitment, I think.

He would have gotten way more money on his rookie contract if Kirk and Parker told him to leave after his junior year

So how exactly do you know what the coaches told him? There have been a number of quotes out there that say they counsel players who are projected as high draft choices to go. We’re they supposed to pull his scholarship so he couldn’t come back? For once, try and answer this isolated question. Do you have ay knowledge that KF or PP told Desmond King he should return for his senior year?

Not ironic, straight up hypocrisy. But what do you expect from that trash program?

They operate like many other programs. They ask the kid if he wants to be recruited. If the say no the back off and tell him to give them a call if he changes his mind.

In the words of KF, the no visit thing is evolving. They’ve let kids visit while they are committed. The linebacker from is past year as an example.

The ones where he was playing a deep half as part of a nickel package included 2015 Indiana game in the 4th Quarter.

Go to 5:45 of this video. King is clearly lined up as the CB at the bottom of the screen.

2015 Wisconsin game in the 2nd Quarter.

Go to 3:29 here and you can see King lined up as the CB at the top of the screen

2015 Pitt game 1st Quarter on goal line.

Go to 0:50 here and King is lined up as the CB on the top of the screen.

Tax Slayer Bowl in 3rd Quarter where we rolled to deep coverage.

I refuse to pull up any highlights of this debacle.

He wasn’t bad in coverage for a guy over 55 years old. The hip swivel cost him in that last touchdown though. Wait. He didn’t play? How did he lose the game for Iowa? Oh, the starting defensive backs were out with injuries and a couple of true freshman had to step in? I understand now. He should be fired.

That's the one thing with Parker and Iowa is they can't recruit depth, especially in the defensive backfield. The guy misses on his top recruiting targets like crazy and is stuck playing kids that aren't ready and loses games doing it

Is it ironic that Iowa still recruits kids that committed elsewhere but have a rule if you're committed to Iowa you may not go on recruiting visits elsewhere?

Not exactly the rule.

Fant took visits after he committed to Iowa. Jestin Jacobs took a visit to Ohio State last year after he verballed to Iowa.

Do you understand the difference between an official and unofficial visit? The Eno situation only occurred because he took official visits and assistant coaches lied to KF. Those coaches are were no longer at Iowa after KF learned of it.

Are you the psycho from the rivals board or some other random squawk psycho?
