So it wasn’t alcohol related. You don’t have any idea that he was drinking. You’re just assuming because he plays for Iowa. I’d go along with a few games if he’d been convicted of public intox, or possession under age, because that would have been alcohol related.
BTW, I’ve been in a bar many times drinking a coke. Perhaps he was as well. Perhaps he knew he had a first offense and knew he didn’t need another. Perhaps he just stayed too late.
I'd assume any college aged person with an OWI is going to be consuming alcohol at a bar if they're there no matter who it is
You don't have to be drinking alcohol to get a possession either by the way. I know two separate people that got one when it wasn't theirs and they weren't drinking
And he didn’t get a possession. More evidence that this wasn’t alcohol related. So, what kind of suspension should an athlete get for a speeding ticket?
If he would've fled the scene and led them on a chase, obviously it would've been a 0 game suspension. He should've done that.
So a possession is an alcohol related offense even though you don't have to drink alcohol to receive the citation but being in a bar underage isn't an alcohol related offense even though you don't have to drink alcohol to receive it? That's confusing

And you know the ICPD has his number and calls him directly often similar to what Ames cops did under Hoiberg. I highly doubt this was only the second run in with the law for Wirfs. I just hope he figures out his issues

Yeah but how is a possession an "alcohol related offense" even though you don't have to be drinking to get it but being in a bar isn't an "alcohol related offense"?
An ISU player who fled the scene of a crime and led cops on a footchase started their game two days later. Not a good look.
Possession of alcohol underage may mean you have an unopened bottle of Jack in the car. Alcohol related. You’re sitting within arms reach of a glass of whiskey while you’re 20. That’s illegal. Now maybe this football player was sitting at a table and no one had alcohol. See, not alcohol related, but they were in the bar too late.

So it's illegal to be sitting within an arms length of whiskey and not be drinking and it's illegal to be in a bar after hours and not be drinking? Got it. Hope he gets help if he needs it
I will admit the narrative he was just hanging out at a bar and not drinking does make me laugh. Fans think of some crazy stuff to justify the action of a player on their favorite team. ISU fans do it too
Some bars serve food. What if he was there eating at 9pm and then 10:00 rolled around and he was paying his tab? Illegal, needs help
