Top Golf metro rumors

The manager at the topgolf in KC said that there will be one in Des Moines. Omaha is being completed first.

I'd love to see how Top Golf gauges building size against minimum required revenue. I don't see too many people outside maybe 30 minutes away visiting one of these, which would seem to make a smaller version a viable option for places like Cedar Rapids.

Its a great idea

I mean don't get me wrong, it was fun and I did get a little more used to the height. That also allows you to see where you hit a little better. The scoring system seemed a bit random and could use a little more info and tweaking. Watching some woman in high heels try to hit a golf ball and not fall off a ledge also has some entertainment value I suppose.

Nets!

I could see, though, if you have a little fear of heights it may not be the most comfortable thing.

Never been to a northern Top Golf. Are they open year round? They must put in-ground heating on course so the snow melts? Wouldn't be that fun if you just hit balls into a snow bank. ha!

Was hoping they would put it Altoona off the interstate with Bass Pro, Adventureland and the Mall. Kind of let Altoona have the entertainment side of Des Moines.

Surprised they think the DSM area is big enough to support it along with the weather though.

The only thing I am skeptical about was that Omaha is getting one and that seems close but maybe the population satisfies their criteria.

They should tear down Southridge Mall and put it there. I say this selfishly as I live near Carlisle.

Yes, year round. I believe they have radiant heaters for the bays.

got ya on the bays. I know they are climate controls. I was more curious on the ball landing areas. Wonder if they just wait for the snow to melt or if they help it along with heating of some sort. think that would be expensive though.

Honestly, I think you are underestimating the draw of a Top Golf.

Maybe I am, but Top Golf seems similar to the Dave & Buster's business model. An attraction for adults that are massive in scale and located in only select metros. Even if people drive 90 minutes to one, that still leaves CR, Waterloo and/or Quad Cities outside that zone. That's why I'm curious what square footage and revenue factors are used as criteria for building one. If you could operate a smaller one at a third of the cost and still generate revenue more than a third of what the large ones generate, it's still a net gain.

Uhm yes please! I think it would do well.

Even during the winter months, the top golfs I’ve been to seem to be a huge hit with their bars/restaurants.

I've never been but I do golf poorly. I've heard it's like hitting golf balls into funnels for certain scores. If so how can most people be that precise?

I would love for Cedar Rapids to have one...
...but city leaders decided to build another Casey's instead.

How is this more of less attractive than just going to a driving range? Just the ability to do it in the Winter?

Why would Cedar Rapids ever build anything fun and exciting? We have U-Haul rental places to build and new Casey's to construct...

You wouldn’t do Top Golf by yourself. It’s a group/social gathering.

They have different types of games you can do that involves all the targets. Some of the targets are quite huge so even the worst golfers can get it in the targets.
