Iowa Football Recruiting

To keep fans happy? Beat Iowa State. To set lofty goals? Win the pathetic division you're in more years than not

To keep the fans happy it is to have a Top Ten season about once every 4-5 years with a New Years Six Bowl appearance. Bowl games 4 out of every 5 years and yearly win counts 7+.

I see isu fans are ecstatic with two 8-5 seasons.

Competing for the West every season.
With the expectations some Iowa fans have year in and year out, only being in the Big 10 title game one time since it's existence in 2011 is not ideal. And I know I know "Iowa State fans wish we could even sniff our title game". Of course we do, but if the current Big 12 had divisions like the Big 10 does, and Iowa State is in it's current state, I'm sure every single Iowa State fan would be thinking 100% we'd be in the title game. If this current Matt Campbell program wouldn't be able to compete year in and year out for the Big 12 North Title, ISU fans would not be happy.

How about this? He is OBVIOUSLY better than:
Maryland - Mike Locksley. Great recruiter has never done anything as a coach
Rutgers - Chris Ash. Not good results
Indiana - Tom Allen. Hasn’t done anything
Illinois - Good pro coach but hasn’t done anything in college
Ohio State - Ryan Day. Completely unproven as a head coach
Minnesota- PJ Fleck. Has zero accomplishments as a head coach. All hype

So that makes him at worst 8th. This ranking has him 5th

I'd rather have Day than Ferentz

Two when you look at the final poll following the 2009 season. So no Iowa fans are not mad with KF. I can see why clone fans want him gone. Tired of losing to him and playing second fiddle has to get old for you.

From the 2010 team to present he was one of those things that need to be accomplished every 4-5 years to keep fans happy but fans are still happy? That literally doesn't make sense

Kirk Ferentz: Ferentz is one of my favorite coaches and somebody who never gets quite enough credit. Iowa is not an elite program. It's not a program that enters the season with people picking it for Rose Bowls or CFP berths. But there's a consistency to it that speaks to the man running the show. Since Ferentz took over in 1999, the Hawkeyes have had four losing seasons: 1999, 2000, 2006 and 2012. That's remarkable for a program that isn't located in the heart of fertile recruiting grounds and generally isn't in the running for the nation's top high schoolers. Ferentz has won two conference titles at Iowa and nearly won a third in 2015. He's taken the Hawkeyes to two Orange Bowls and a Rose Bowl. He takes unheralded talent and consistently churns out NFL players. He might not have the rings or trophies, but he's put together a program Iowa fans can be proud of. And are.
