John Daly denied cart

John Daly will not be in the Hall of Fame someday. It's not even a given that Zach Johnson will be in with 2 majors and 12 PGA victories. Many criticized that Fred Couples made it with 1 major and 15 PGA victories. Just my two cents worth.

Zach Johnson will absolutely 100% be in the HOF. I don't know what you're talking about there.

The rules of the game are the rules of the game in an athletic competition. If he really wants to play in these events, he'll need to find a way to get into shape. Otherwise, just play on the senior tour where they allow carts.

I don't think they do.

I think it's an option for some of the tournaments, but not all.

When they have things where the really old guys participate , I think that'd be obvious.

Run of the mill senior tour events have the same rules as the regular tour.

And most don't use it as they're keeping in better shape than they used to.
I have gone to the Principal Charity Classic for several years and they have always allowed but hardly anyone uses them. Daly has though. This year only people with health conditions were allowed due to course conditions (wet).

If it's Casey Martin, sure, use a cart. If it's because you not only refuse to take care of yourself but you also like to joke about how unhealthy your lifestyle is, get bent. I'm sure he has an actual health issue but I have no sympathy for that guy. He had more talent than anyone and he just refused to put it to use. I won't condemn him for that as it's his choice but I'm certainly not going to applaud him for it as he tries to squeeze every last cent out of his remaining years of relevance.

Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk.

The ADA says that they have to look at each individual case. They cannot have a blanket policy. This was decided when Casey Martin went to court.
I think he's right, also no carts in pro-ams I believe.

I was referring specifically to the Senior Tour, but maybe you are too.

I would be able to play The Open if my golf swing wasn't complete ****. I want to use one of those ball hitting robots.

I would think all events are the same in terms of not being able to explicitly deny cart use across the board. I think you're right on the senior tour. I think they're much less lenient for majors.

Is John Daly still a competitive golfer? I thought he was just an entertainer brought to these events because he attracts fans. Seems like he draws a lot more interest than most of the "real golfers" at these less-than-major events.

I'd say he's occasionally moderately competitive on the Champion's Tour, looking at this year it looks like he finished top 10 twice, close to the bottom a couple times and several finishes in the top half or so.

Idk enough about golf but has he always just kind of been a sideshow? Or was he considered like a great talent at some point.

He has 2 major tournament wins. And 5 total. He won the PGA Championship his first year on the tour.
He should be jn the hall of fame someday. Might take a bit longer as he has gone to **** lately but he should get in. He was well known for his long drives also.
John Daly is the weekend hacker that hit the big time. I think that's the major appeal. He was something like the 10th alternate for the PGA championship and was notified the day before he could play, drove all night and teed it up and won with a no BS style.
He had the talent, it's just he liked to drink, smoke and eat junk food more than practice.
