Honda Ridgeline

Buy an El Camino, you will get better fuel economy than these other small pickups.

My brother actually got a rusted out El Camino for free in High School, fixed it up, sold it and made a killing, and bought a pretty decent Malibu as a replacement.

I have an old Ridgeline, it's been great. I like the newer style so much better. How many people actually need a full size pick up anymore? The Colorado is similar, slightly better body style, but it's an effing Chevy, no way I'm buying tha pos.
Yes it is similar to an SUV, but is that bad? It's a great vehicle, but if you want to pull a large boat or something else huge, get a Tundra.

Oh that’s kind of like guys bragging about who has the biggest unit. It doesn’t really mean much.....

Unless your minivan is a particular Toyota it doesn’t have AWD which is more important to me anyway.
Whatever makes you feel better about it.

I wonder what kind of consumer testing/input Honda did on the Ridgeline before releasing it.

It's like a perfect utilitarian vehicle for an average guy (non- farmer/contractor).
1. Can tow an average boat/trailer
2. Has a trunk
3. Room for kids
4. Good for weekend trips to Lowe's/ HD
5. Good ride, good tech, good mileage
6. Reliable

So, if they nailed all those items, how in the heck didn't anyone at Honda realize how ridiculously ugly that vehicle is.

I've had a Nissan Frontier for the last 6 years. It's been a great pickup. For my needs, the Ridgeline would be perfect for my next vehicle, but I simply can't get past the aesthetics.

I drive a Toyota Tacoma and I love it. I’m not sure I will ever own anything else. The Ridgelines from what I understand are limited to what types of truck things you can do with it.
I also think the Colorado’s are sharp.
I have been looking at the Tacoma's recently. Toyota of Des Moines has 20 year/ 200,000 mile warranty. Down in Kansas City there is a dealer offering lifetime warranty. What type of fuel economy are you getting? I was originally looking at Ram Ecodiesel, but they are not making them anymore. I have also looked at the Canyon & Colorado diesels. However, the Toyota warranty has me thinking about sticking with gas.

I have a 2018 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 liter motor. If the Durango is anything like it just get a new one. I love this truck.

Probably 12-15 mpg. But my driving mostly consists of town driving to work and back. If we go out of town as a family we take our minivan.

I had a Gen 1 Ridgeline for a year and a half. Loved the thing. Trunk is awesome. Swing or fold down tailgate is awesome. Rear seat stow is awesome. If it wasn't for a growing family then I would still have it. Would love to have a Gen 2 someday with the improved fuel economy. I don't think its ugly like some people do. The new silverado, now that's ugly. The ridgeline is just more pedestrian looking and 'truck' people like to bag on that.

The Ridgeline has always been ugly. Not Pontiac Aztek ugly, but not too far behind. Aesthetically, it's the ugliest truck.

90% of what I do I could handle with a mid-size truck. However, there's a huge difference towing something even like my golf cart in a mid-size vs my F-150 though. The smaller trucks you know it's there...I don't even feel it with a full size truck.

The new ones interest me as a possible replacement for my Dodge Durango (which has 190,000 miles on it). I want something with a lot of tech that is quiet and rides nice. By all accounts these do. Full-size pickups are so dang big it’s hard to find one with 4 doors that will fit in my garage!

Does anybody have one and what are your thoughts? I drive about 95% of my miles are on highway or gravel and 5% in farm fields.
I am a huge proponent of the Toyota Tacoma. It is not going to have the ride that a Ridgeline will but they are bulletproof. Loved my Tacoma and love my current Tundra even if it is hard on the gasoline consumption.

I just don't understand why Honda still rocks the Unibody on the Ridgeline. I think it is literally the last production truck with one.

Honestly everyone on here dismissing the Colorado seems asinine. They have done the reliability tests and 2015 and beyond the Colorado is not any worse than Hondas. And from a truck standpoint Motortrend did a functional test in truck working conditions, and the Colorado was light years better than the Ranger, Ridgeline, or Tacoma. Everyone here is using reliability data from over a decade ago to bash on the Chevy. Its still the best small pickup according to car people, but Cyfans disagree.

I was looking at small trucks, but in the end got a F150. I get 18 city and it is can pull and haul what I need.

My Durango has been really good. Just put a new a/c compresser in (at a cost of $1,200) and that’s really my first major repair on it. I have the original front brakes on it yet(at 190,000 miles!).

The 3.6 is a bit underpowered for the weight of the vehicle, but am not a race driver and you get used to it relatively quickly. Never liked the real low front air dam(that got torn off relatively quickly) and the bumper and fender flaring is pretty flimsy, but most vehicles are anymore.

Hope to get another 18 months or 35,000 miles out of it. Will see how it does!

I liked the design of the old gen Ridgeline and agree they do 75% of what most truck buyers actually need, I think the new generation lost a little bit of it's off-road chops compared to the last gen. I don't know how well it would handle farm field use even the little bit you claim but I do see mostly the smaller cross overs being driven by the farmers wife's on the gravel roads around where I live.

It’s the only unibody truck (very few have ever been made that way). There are some benefits to it(better ride, more interior space). Also some negatives( less payload, towing, ground clearance). The negatives are not things I need much if at all..

I have checked a lot of farm fields in my life with Ford Taurus’s and Chevy Impalas, so the ground clearance critique of the Ridgeline is fairly weak for my needs.

Have a coworker who drives a CRV and does just fine so am sure the Ridgeline will be similar. The ground clearance is similar to my current Durango.
