If you play golf, some of the best public courses in the USA are in NW Michigan.
Where'd you play? I played Arcadia Bluffs a few years back and it was one of the most beautiful courses I've ever played. (probably THE one) Couldn't hit a straight drive to save my life thoughI spent 10 days in Michigan last summer, we golfed 7 of the days. Played 14 rounds, most in the northwest part of the state. It was incredible. Didn't play a bad course, definitely played some incredible ones. My arms were like noodles by day four but we pressed on.
Since it is 108* here right now, I would love to be back there again.

******* cherry season man. I'd go up to Northern Michigan with my family every summer as a kid and the amount of cherry inspired candies/foods I've eaten because of it is probably up there with anyone outside of Michigan lol. Lots of great stuff though, they really know how to use their cherries.Echo a lot that was said especially Sleeping Bear Dunes and the drive to Old Mission Lighthouse, scenic up the peninsula. On the way there or back eat at Jolly Pumpkin Restaurant and Brewery or the Boathouse. It is cherry season (over 100 million pounds of cherries each year in area) so stop at many roadside markets for great cherries. Cherry Republic for lunch and all things cherry on Front Street. Grand Traverse Pie Company supposed to be great. Can also drive up another peninsula to Leelanau State Park and the Grand Traverse Lighthouse. Don's Drive In for an old time drive in.
Great part of the country, you will have a good time.
