NBA: ***Official 2019 NBA Playoffs Thread***

Can you win a title with him as your second best guy?

Not right now. The lack of a jumper is too big of a glaring hole in his game. He doesn't have to be Curry or Lillard off the bounce, but he has to at least be able to make defenses pay for sagging off him or flat out daring him to shoot.

Simmons lack of a jump shot wouldn't be as big a deal if Philly had anyone else that could shoot. Horford is really good but with him, Joel and Simmons, they don't bring much versatility on offense.

I like Horford but idk if he's a good fit and I think they overpaid for Harris, I'm just not sure they did anything to make them better than the teams that finished ahead of them last season. Last year it seemed like their biggest issue was 3pt shooting, they didn't address that. They are still a couple years and another shooter away from being a real threat in the East IMO.

They really need Harris and Richardson to be effective high volume 3-point shooters next year. It's going to get real tight in the halfcourt for them in the postseason next year, teams will live with Embiid and Horford taking jumpers against them. It's going to be interesting to see how all these pieces fit together, I don't know if Brown is creative enough to make it all work. After years of teams going smaller and smaller, it's fun to see a team throw out a gigantic lineup like Philly is planning on. If teams go small against them, they will get crushed on the boards.

It would be incredible if Drake's pitch was the determining factor in Kawhi Leonard's decision to leave Toronto.

The Raptors will probably give him a roster spot if it is, let him a wear a uniform and sit on the bench with them.

I'm kind of hoping it goes the other way, like Kawhi sees whatever Drake has planned and decides he has to get as far away as possible from the guy.

Haha I feel like even other NBA players don't know what Kawhi likes and doesn't like. He's such a different dude. I'm kind of hoping he announces he's taking a vacation, he'll start thinking about free agency when he gets back...and watch everyone freak out.

Yeah, it's surprising that none of the insiders and reporters even have a good feel for what his plans are by now. Other than a general consensus that it's down to Toronto or one of the LA teams everyone is pretty much in the dark.

I can't imagine why he'd be waiting to announce his plans unless he genuinely hasn't made up his mind or he just really enjoys ******* with everyone.

Technically, LA could sign Kawhi and then trade LeBron and use that trade and cap space to fill in pieces around Kawhi and AD. LeBron doesn’t have a no trade clause.

watching babb right now, doubt he makes the team but he looks like he did in college. Solid at everything but not great at anything. He's been playing PG and guarding Kyle Guy.

He had a sweet putback dunk after a foul call there. Guy is making some hard shots. It’s crazy to me how Nick has changed as a player.

Steph Curry doesn't have a no-trade clause either. He's terrible in the clutch so GS should trade him and surround DLo and Klay with better players.

See, I can say dumb stuff too.

It's going to be really interesting to watch the Lakers fill out a roster around AD, Bron, and Kawhi (if he goes to LA). Dudley and some other bargain bin vets, some G League castoffs, and a few untested young guys. And then on top of that they'll have to figure out how to stagger the rest days for their Big Three. Frank Vogel or Jason Kidd or whoever is actually in charge is going to have a difficult job on their hands.

edit: that link makes it look like a one year, 26 million dollar deal. Nice player, but not even Jared Dudley thinks that highly of Jared Dudley. It's 2.6 million.

Jazz are adding some nice role players: Jeff Green and Emmanuel Mudiay on one year deals.
Really liking how that roster is shaping up to contend.
Hope Green doesn't take away Georges minutes/spot.

Dudley is a great signing for the Lakers. The exact right cost and he's great in the locker room and he has a high IQ.

I think once the Kawhi decision is made the rest of the Laker roster will fill quickly. One player I would really follow is Iggy. Rob Pelinka is his former agent. If Memphis buys out Iggy he'll go to the Lakers.

A closing line-up of Lebron, Kawhi, Iggy, Kuzma and AD?? Whoa.

Bench guys like Dudley, THT, whoever their Mid-Level Exception is (Danny Green?), convince Boogie to come for the minimum. Korver for minimum? Melo for minimum? That's not bad. Not great, but it doesn't have to be when you have those Big 3.
