Iowa Football Recruiting

And Northwestern won the division on the road with games to play.
With all the NFL talent Iowa had, that was a disappointment.[/QUOTE

You are trying way to hard. If Iowa not being as good as the could be is better than what ISU was at their best, then what does that tell you?

Using teamrankings.com, In the last 4 years, which is using the data from the 2015 season that Iowa was "having an easy schedule" with the undefeated regular season, both Iowa and ISU have an average SOS of 33..... Hard to argue that data. So how is ISU playing a much harder schedule?

Man, you pivot more than a swinging gate. I used your numbers and now you are arguing about them.

If you use that teamrankings.com, it is not too kind to the SOS for ISU or Iowa. Going back to the 2003 season that cite ranks Iowa as having a better SOS on average from 2003-2018.

Here is a fun one!

Since the onset of the Big 10 West using teamrankings.com, Iowa and ISU have the same average SOS of 38 since the 2013-2014 season.

So, when using that data, how is ISU schedule head and shoulders better than Iowa on a yearly basis? Because it simply isnt.

What's it like thinking about Iowa State when you first wake up and the last thing you think about before you go to bed?

For some reason, that warrennolan.com would not work for me for 2015 so I looked it up on teamrankings.com. ISU had a 39 rank that year and Iowa had a 51 for SOS......

So, looking at the numbers, Iowa and ISU are not much different, in fact in the last 4 years. Iowa has played a tougher schedule.

That Iowa SOS doesn’t just count the 12 games that everyone here makes fun of, it also counts the MSU game and the Stanford game. I think everyone agrees those 2 teams were good. Coincidentally Iowa’s record in those games wasn’t great.

Omg, seriously what is next. Those games for sure count. They played the games. Sanford rolled Iowa, but going into that game Iowa was a very good 12-1 team that lost in the last minute in the championship game. Not sure your angle here? It is probably because making fun of Iowa schedule is easy and fun, until the facts are presented. Big west being bad is mostly because the East is on par with the SEC.

What is Warren Nolan and why is it being discussed like a legit source?

teamrankings??? Is that the one that combines all the polls, like Mark's poll or 3rd floor of Texas state penitentiary rankings?

The Big 10 East is NOT on par with the SEC. Not even close. Ohio State is the only team from the Big 10 (let alone the east) to make a title game since 1997, who was Michigan. The Big 10 has only been in the title game 4 times since the year 2000, each of those being OSU and OSU has two titles. The SEC has 10. An SEC team has also made the title game 15 times since 2000. For reference, the Big 12 has had 2 titles since 2000 and has been there 5 times in that span.

And I don't think any Iowa State fan is saying Iowa didn't play good teams in the B10 championship game or the Rose Bowl. Those were good teams and Iowa lost in a close one, and got embarrassed in another. The games leading up to those games were not against one great team. Iowa played (and beat) only 3 teams with winning records on the year. Two of those were Wisconsin and Northwestern, who both had almost the exact same schedule as Iowa. Northwestern was the only one out of those three to play one B10 West team, and that was against a Penn State team who went 7-6. So the two best teams in the regular season Iowa had to play had cupcake schedules as well.

That same year, Iowa State played the #2, #3, #5, and #14 ranked teams in the country. Iowa ended around the same area of SOS because of the two teams you played and lost to at the end. The regular season SOS was not even in comparison between the two.
