Iowa Football Recruiting

Why disregard head to head? Why not add in bowl game victories, draft picks, award winners, etc.?
I disregard H2H because a rivalry game played at the beginning of the year doesn't determine success of the entire season. Just because Texas beat Oklahoma last year, it doesn't mean they had a more successful year.

Miss. State was ranked
And yes, I meant to put that Iowa didn't have a ranked victory during the regular season until they played #18 Miss. State. That game saved the season for a lot of Iowa fans.

Nebraska would obviously get more attention but I'm really confused where you are going with this. It would literally have zero bearing on the national status of CMC or the Iowa State football program and what it has to sell moving forward.

My stance is they would be no more hype for isu if you do not improve on your above average seasons. For the big national attention to contunue, you will need to get to 10 wins imo.

Iowa had a better year last year than ISU. Won the head to head. Finished ranked. Won their bowl game. Won more games.

If you are on they upper end and have the hype. 9-4 is an average year.
We're not supposed to win 10, 11, or 12 games next year. Many people are just saying that there is a lot of potential for us to possibly do so. If we don't win that amount of games, I'm not going to call my coach trash, talk how bad of a state our program is in, and complain like most Hawk fans do when their expectations of a title game are crushed every fall.

That's a logical argument to make. I could flip it and say Iowa State beat more ranked teams, played a tougher schedule, didn't have a QB till week 5, and played a much tougher bowl game opponent.

You wont yet, but that time will come.

The bowl game and won more games go hand in hand.
ISU went to a better bowl game and barely lost to a now top 10 team.
Iowa barely beat a now unranked team.

This is a really weird take. If Iowa State would wine 8-9 regular season games again they would get plenty of run. I guess we just don't have the same "PAY ATTENTION TO ME" tantrums that Iowa fans do....

What about the head to head? Does that not have any weight to who had the better season?

1 ranked team at the end of year rankings (AP) and that was 20th ranked WV. So 1 team. Yes tougher schedule(will be similar this year). Bowl game opponent can ne argued either way. Yes they were good, but PAC 12. We played best defensive team in SEC. You got purdy in there because of an injured qb in our game btw.

I never expect us to walk out of Kinnick with a W so I guess I'm not pushing my chips all in on the outcome of a road game against an instate rival...

No they wouldn't. Unless you beat a top 5 team again.
Osu
Wv
Ksu
Kansas
Baylor
Texad tech
Tcu
Wont be top 5, texas or OU might not be either.

Iowa wont be that either.

Say yoh lose to ou, texas, and iowa like athlon predicted. That is 9-3 but with no top wins. And no conference championship. It is above average. While a good year it wont tip the scales for national buzz.

FFS this isn't the B1G West... I will all but guarantee that Baylor, OSU, and TCU will all be ranked at some point in the season. Iowa State would be a 2 loss Big 12 team that finishes 3rd.... Yeah, they won't get talked about...
