These west coast majors are interesting because of the "late" television times. Fox having three hours of prime time coverage is weird. Golf never gets that type of visibility.

Pebble Beach weather: "....In 1992, Gil Morgan became the first player to reach double-digits under par at a U.S. Open. By the seventh hole on Saturday, he was 12-under. Then the winds picked up and Morgan played the final 29 holes at 17-over, finishing out of the top-10 completely..."

Rahm off to a good start early. Looking forward to the eventual meltdown.

(I don't dislike Rahm, I just enjoy seeing the pros get angry)

In the evening I had to stay on FS1 with their feature group thing but I guess that's better than nothing.

What's the deal with no Fox?

Koepka didn't maintain the pace. 48 under seems even more unlikely now.

With a bunch of red numbers today, let's see how the USGA is going to screw this up.

They already have by giving into the whiners and complainers. It's way too soft right now.

The USGA needs to call these guys bluffs and lean into it. Nobody is going to skip the US Open. They are dealing with a bunch of guys who always get their way and if there something they don't like, like the centerline bunker at Boston, the Tour has it changed. They don't want to play a game where it's anything but point and shoot.

I remember Erin Hills was going to be a grind because of length.

They just hit it over everything and destroyed it.

Erin Hill's ended up playing much easier simply because of the conditions. The course played really soft due to rain, so the players were able to go right at the stick. The USGA had the rough were they wanted it but the players were a bunch of cry baby pee pee pants so they made some alterations which allowed for the players to swing for the fences off the tee.

If there would have been the average wind and it was firm and fast, Erin Hills would have been great. The only thing the USGA screwed up was Chambers Bay Greens. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of guys who ***** about the ball not staying where it lands and consequences for not hitting the ball to the right spot.

I don't think there was any way to make Chamber Bay greens good, guys that play there couldn't believe it got chosen for a major.

Like you, I doubt anyone is going to skip the US Open out of protest, but the USGA has quite a history of screwing things up. They're far from blameless.
