This game might be the hardest game so far to get a guess on.

ISU hasn't won on the road in years. We've played so up and down this year.

I WANT to think this game goes our way. I want to think that AA can exploit a really poor Baylor secondary.

I think Gene finally does it. ISU 28 Baylor 27. In overtime.

Baylor wins 31-21.

Until we can run the ball and get better on defense I'm not convinced we will win a road game. It pains me because if ISU can get this win I really think we can take Nebraska and A&M at home to get back into serious bowl contention. I can't wait for this game.

Bump. Would like to hear thoughts on the game that takes place in about 30 hours.

ISU comes out roaring, runs the ball well in addition to tearing up the BU secondary, defends decently, and wins going away.

ISU 38
BU 17

If you listen to the Baylor fans that have popped up around here (or visit their board), you'll see scores like Baylor 45, ISU 21, or even 50-7.

Some people here, in threads earlier this week, were calling for ISU to win by 4 TDs.

I think you'll see another high-scoring, competitive game. Probably around 35-31 or so. My homerism does not permit me to pick Baylor as the winner, ergo the Clones shall prevail.

I read a few posts on the Baylor site. One guy predicted BU to win 101 - 0. But most predictions were BU by 2+ TD's. The inverse of this site I think (including me). But a close, relatively high scoring game is probably more likely.

I honestly don't think it will be that high scoring. I think we lose like 24-17 or something like that.

The guy on Cotlar this morning that has a betting service and has yet to pick ISU this season, said that Chizik is 8-4 against the spread on the road and predicts and ISU victory 34-31.

He said that Baylor has one of the 3 worst defenses in the country. 2 cornerbacks that are decent the rest of the D is poor. Which is usually a bad deal for ISU as the worst seem to play the game of their lives against ISU.

I'm inclined to agree though... I think we win on the road and break the streak! This team is hungry for a win and wants to prove something after laying down to Kansas in the 3rd quarter last week and coming up short in the previous two games.

It's going to take us actually winning one on the road for me to predict a road win ever. I'll take Baylor.

our CBs are by far the worst part of our D. I wouldn't put much stock in that guy's opinion.

I agree with balla. CBs are the weakness of our D, but the D-Line isn't much in front of them either (pun intended). Our best CB is a converted receiver. While this happens at the college level, we converted him out of necessity, not out of choice.

Our LB corps are solid. Joe Pawelek is the slowest great linebacker you will ever see. That kid has a nose for the ball and a football instinct like no one I've ever seen. He can bring the wood as well. He looks like he's moving in slow-mo and then intercepts a pass or gets a tfl.

Bad D-Line = no pressure on the QB. Bad secondary = bad protection. Put those together and teams can pass on us at will. Baylor will concede 5-8 yards with our soft coverage in order to not get burned deep (hoping that the Cyclone offense makes mistakes). IF y'all consistently march down the field 5-8 yards at a time without making mistakes (penalties, turnovers, etc.), y'all will have a good day. If not, Baylor wins because Griffin and co. should be able to put up 24+ points.

I give the edge to Baylor ONLY because the game is in Waco. In Ames, I say ISU wins. It should be close.

Taking 5-8 yards and not making mistakes was the gameplan last week against KU, so hopefully they can carry that over.

We will get us in a hole 21-0 by the end of first half, we will rally back to tie the game at 21-21 by 4th qtr, then kick a FG to win the game at the end.

24-21

I just do not believe Gene Chizik will come up short on this game. Bates will be sorry he left the team and Gene will make sure it happens.

Well, we are way past due to win a overtime game with a field goal

And now y'all bring up the other thing that worries me: place-kicking (or really, special teams in general).

In a close game, I like ISU because your PK seems much better than ours. That can make all the difference in the end.
