2019 ISU vs EIU - 3pm kick off time

You're telling me that more than 2/3 of TV viewers in Iowa (more than this actually as I'm just comparing to Iowa's population) were watching this game last year (plus a few more)? I know we like football in Iowa, but that seems remarkable...

IM not sure what you said but I am telling you Michigan State vs Arizona is national and will most likely have more national coverage and more national viewers than Iowa State vs. Iowa.

Both ASU/Sparty and ISU/TOE played on the same weekend last year, and both had a little over 2 million viewers (and that includes those streaming the ASU/Sparty game which was not available to viewers of ISU/TOE).

I personally think Gameday sucks and don't care if we ever get included, especially if the Hoks are involved at all.

**** Iowa

I understand the sentiment, but that's dumb. Gameday has lost its authentic feel, but it's still the most popular pregame show in sports. It is a cultural icon and provides an insane amount of exposure for the university. Our fans would show out like few fanbases would.

Wasn't that a late game though? I remember meaning to watch it and then Saturday happened.

What are you saying here, that an ISU game cannot put up a good rating? The game in JTS the very next week was the 4th highest rated game of the week. ISU's bowl game was the 9th most watched bowl game last year.

If ISU and Iowa were on CBS on Saturday afternoon the game would put up huge numbers.

It is definitely coming soon and we will show no matter what, but the Texas or TCU game stick out to me as better options than EIU/UNI/Kirkwood culminating into Western Chicago Community College.

I'm saying that a Michigan State-Arizona State matchup has broader national appeal, and the only reason it had a similar rating to the Iowa-ISU matchup was because it was broadcast at 10:45 p.m. ET.

Iowa-Iowa State is a fine matchup, and will probably have more viewers than ever this season given that it's likely to be a Top 25 matchup, but it's not a nationally relevant game. That's OK. It will be if Campbell sticks around.

So if they played the ASU/Sparty game at 3 pm we're talking 10s of millions of viewers?

Dude, hilarious post. Nice work.

I wouldn't be shocked to see JP move UNI earlier in the day after last year's fiasco.

We've had games where it stormed in the morning or afternoon, but then cleared for a nice afternoon or evening game. I don't think last year's fiasco is a trustworthy benchmark. In fact, I would refer to it as "nearly unprecedented."

I do agree that last year is an anomaly, but think the point of moving it to an earlier time slot would be to leave the options open to push it to a later time, if your scenario plays out of morning thunderstorms. But having it start later limits the options.
