I dont think my fondness of Phillip Bates was hidden, I really liked his potential, I WANTED him to become #1..

However, Austen has really taken this team in and adjusted his attitude so much from the beginning of the season, He has swagger now. We are in good hands with Austen, The game plan will change, we wont run Austen as much, But its time for everyone to embrace him as the guy, Stay behind this team and this coaching staff. I challange everyone to keep showing up to every game they possibly can to show support for these guys, No matter what the record. They do notice it.

A big loss this is, But winning teams overcome adversity. We will.

Heres to Onward and Upward ISU Football and Fanbase

I sincerely hope the only people who would ever think of skipping a game because of the Phil Bates transfer is his family.

Thats not what im referring to, Im saying that this team is going to fight through this, He may not be the only player we lose this season.. Im saying.. everyone is impressed with the following this season, and id love to see it keep going no matter how much we struggle for the rest of the season

Dont jump on that statement, Im not saying we will be losing someone for sure. Im saying its a possibility with all of the freshmen that have taken over. lets ignore that for now. Onward and Upward

Amen. Why would anyone lose faith in ISU because a backup QB who hardly played left the team?

My biggest concern is how the team (18-22 year old young men) responds. Regardless of Bates' (lack of) playing time and affect on the field, it will feel like they have lost a part of their family. We all know that there are two ways to respond to this type of adversity.

I have faith that Coach Chizik will help these young men focus and come together even closer as a team/family.

33 I always appreciate your input.

Is there a group of players on the team that might be more upset about PB leaving that will cause some team chemistry problems the rest of this year?

Maybe with a few guys, but overall.. They will join together and make it through everything they can. I mean look at how they keep playing, With Austen under center i might add...

You just set yourself up and you will be reminded of this for approximately 3 more months, off and on of course!!!!!!!:biglaugh::biglaugh:

Thanks for your insight!

If people are leaving because they are getting played ahead of.. that means we are upgrading talent.

You hit the nail on the head, although, unfortunate some will be left along the side, the next leaders are young and need playing time to get better. Call it transition if you will.

Man, I must be getting old. It just seems like this generation of student-athletes have so little patience. It's all about getting immediate rewards - to heck with having to work long and hard to EARN your spot in the sun. If it's not happening right this instant, then jump the fence because the grass has got to be greener somewhere else.

I see this kind of mentality in the workplace too. It just seems like so many of the younger workers don't have the hunger, the passion, or the work ethic to keep scratching toward a long-term goal. It's all about immediate gratification.

Geez, I cringe when I hear myself talking about the "younger generation." I don't feel very old, but I guess I must be getting there.

I do think AA has proven that he deserves to be on the field at QB for now. That being said, I hope things work out well for Bates. It's just too bad that he couldn't embrace the idea of switching to another position, it's not like he didn't know that Austen was here when he came. It would be a shame to waste a red-shirt on Tiller, if that's even an option. Has he had reps with the no. 1 unit at all? Hopefully, all will work out in the end.

:yes:GO DODGERS!!!!

In all actuality it is likely YOUR generations fault for this. Seeing as how you are the ones who raised us...
