I'm usually pretty faded when I use Uber, so I'm super talkative. I always ask for music and it's usually a good way to break the ice.

We always leave nice tips and my rating is 5.00.

I would say my only complaint is that sometimes I'm disappointed in the Uber Black cars. They should tighten up their standards, I don't think that a Tahoe is UB worthy, but whatever.

Lots of people. This is what I was talking about with surge pricing. Here in MPLS I once had to drive someone from the airport to Eau Claire, Wi. That’s 100 miles. It’s close to $1 a mile drivers get. If it was a surge pricing time of 300% the rider easily gets to $300. Happens often in bigger cities.

I have a 4.92 somehow with most of my rides coming home from a night out. I only give 5, 1 or no stars with 5 stars being 95% of the time. Last 1 star I remember giving was due to the driver turning a 10 minute drive home from the bars into a 30 minute drive by taking a round about route and not listening when I asked where he was going and tried giving directions. Uber reimbursed me for the ride so that was nice.

I just always assumed that they used a car service, especially in a bigger city. If I'm getting a $300 car ride it is going to be as first class as possible.

Of course, I understand that sometimes people have to do what they have to do.

I probably only average 4 or 5 trips per month but it seem like the last 4 months 80% of my Uber drivers have some financial sob story. "I just had to put on new tires...." or " "My partner has throat cancer...".

I'm guessing they are inadvertently lobbying for tips but it drives me crazy. Does anyone else experience this?

I usually like talking to Uber drivers. A lot of times they're immigrants so you can get some good advice on where to eat. My rating is only 4.72, but that is my friends' fault

I somehow have a 4.98 which includes many trips to prairie meadows, a few other late night trips, a couple trips after football games, and a buddy throwing up in the Uber.

These companies are just trying to make it until self driving cars become a thing. Then the human drivers will go away.

I think I threw out a few 4's until I realized there's places where a driver's score must be a certain number to keep driving. No one's ever been bad enough to receive a 1,2, or 3 for me.

Not sure if its changed, but a driver couldn’t be below a 4.6. Thats why I had an Uber driver tell me getting anything other than a 5 hurts their score. So even if you think it was a good, but not perfect ride, don’t give a 4 and instead skip the rating all together.

Let's be honest.

These are creative ways to get people to do work for little to nothing.

The average person doesn't think about what it really costs to operate a car / truck.

My buddy down here has a friend picking up these stupid scooters that litter San Antonio and charging them. "He's making a lot of money charging these things"

Um...mainly because he's not calculating his cost of picking them up and taking them back.

Which is so dumb on the companies' part. It discourages any sort of honest rating.

I got a $215 Uber on New Year's 2018 because my... Um... Friend lived in West Des Moines. Can't say I remember much of the ride outside of seeing it on my bank account the next day. To her credit, she gave me $150 after I told her how much it cost.

Yep. And how on earth Lyft is losing money is astounding to me. Drivers do basically everything. We pay for gas. Tires. Tune ups. Insurance. Car washes. Everything.

Side note. The driver app crashed nationwide tonight. Going on four hours in some cities. Drivers try to drop off a rider and it stalls and won’t end the ride and yet put more riders in your queue and it’s charging THOSE riders for not showing up for rides when the driver can’t even get there anyway.

Four hours of no rides is substantial for many. Lyft won’t do any sort of compensation either.

Twitter is blowing up about it.
