Mountain lion spotted in Des Moines.

There was one spotted around our house in north iowa when I was in highschool ten years ago. Had a campfire with some friends behind our house one summer night and heard the thing growling. Creepy as ****.

This situation is probably more dangerous for the mountain lion that it is for the people or community.

random fact - The mountain loin or puma or cougar is the largest cat that can purr.

I've seen them a couple of times back home near the loess hills.

Crazy, mountain lions are rare in Iowa, especially in Des Moines. I wonder how it got there. It doesn't look too big probably 70-80 pounds but it'll still kill a fully grown man.

Odds are it wants nothing to do with a fully grown man. Probably a juvenile male that has wandered a little far.

I grew up around Meyer/McIntire, and my brother and I thought we saw one in the late 90’s. But we decided there was no way it was possible. It wasn’t 2-3 years later and there started to be reports of confirmed sightings.

Ha nope. I graduated a ways away (AP) just giving you a hard time. I'm up there for work every couple weeks so I know the area well
