NFL: 2019 Draft

I'm a Cowboys fan and I'm not sure I'd want David to land there. Unless Zeke is hurt no one else is getting carries for the next 5 years.

I think they'll be looking to reduce his workload a little bit over the next season or two for a couple different reasons. For one, they need him fresh for later in the regular season and postseason if they get there. Second, they need a little insurance if he decides it's time for a new contract. Gotta have a solid backup plan in case of a prolonged holdout.

Also, there have been a couple rumors that Dallas will be looking at running backs in this draft. I think they'll have more pressing needs with their second round pick but near the end of the third round it makes sense.

Curious - What channel do you all prefer to watch the draft on? I always enjoyed Mike Mayock on NFL Network previous years. Took a look into ABC twice last night, but flipped back when I saw Taylor Swift once and Luke Bryan the second time on the screen. I get network TV probably trying to interest others in the fringe or family, but I look for more real opinion and breakdown. Haven't been a big ESPN fan for a few years for some reason.
Watched on ESPN last night. Wasn't terrible, wasn't great. Trey Wingo fumbled over his words a lot, and then his little rant before showing the video of the Miss St guy drafted was just a weird moment. Mort was in rough shape and shouldn't have been on TV last night

You may need to take some time off. Why would an NFL GM have a bias against Iowa State? They drafted a guy from Alabama State in the 1st round last night. You think they give a **** where a guy played? Their jobs are on the line every time they make a pick.

Correct.

We love our own. I realize some mocks had a chance of Butler sneaking into the 1st with his potential and size, but if you watched him throughout the past two years there are certainly areas for improvement and consistency. As a Vikings fan, Troy Williamson comes to mind with drops issues (and he never overcame it). Certainly not a bias, just reality.

Yeah, I switched over to NFL Network a few years ago and never looked back. Their coverage is a ton better than ESPN. Sucks that Mayock left, because he was really good, but it's still better than ESPN. A lot less fluff.

Why are we so hard on our receivers for dropping passes? Newsflash: ALL receivers drop passes. If we were a fan of some other team we would notice very single dropped pass, just like we do for our own guys.

Also, don't care what any of these scouts say. Butler led the nation in yards per catch and I'm sure he probably had a good average of yards after contact. He's also 6'6", physical, and has good speed. Whoever drafts him is getting a steal.

I think it's all relative. All receivers may drop passes, but at very different rates. Drop a few third downs and/or TDs, that could cost the team games. To be a starting WR in the NFL, you're not going to last very long if you're consistently dropping open passes. Plus, the coverages only get tighter and more complex at the next level.

I don't think it's crazy to question if those concerns will continue or get worse with prospects. Especially when you're discussing a team spending a first round pick. I'd love to see Butler's consistency improve and not only make the circus Sports Center Top 10 Moss'd type catches, but the routine ones too. If he can do that, he'll have a spot in the league and a nice career.

Where did you read/hear this?

Belcher showed up to shoot Charles because he impregnated his girlfriend. Its pretty much common knowledge if you live in KC, know or do anything around the Chiefs. Belcher was a maniac, the Chiefs did everything they could to contain him and give him all the help they could.

Hawkeye fans watching the first round last night . . .

Booger McFarland is super annoying and not a good analyst. Just when I thought he couldn't get more annoying than his mobile seat on MNF, I have to listen to him for 4 hours during the draft last night.
