Hemp and Hemp Extracts containing CBD about to be formally legalized in Iowa

How many companies do any sort of drug testing? I've never had to take one for a job.

I'd say most do during the pre-employment screen, but I've never been in a job that has random tests. I'm also an office worker, so I'm sure it varies greatly in other industries. I'm sure those that run machinery get tested a lot.

I worked a job in college that involved most of the staff running heavy machinery, and then us in office support and sales. The people running the machines had to take monthly drug tests, us in the office were not required or ever asked.

edit: It's all about mitigating risk.

"To make marijuana against the law is like saying God made a mistake."
- Bill Hicks

The same could be said about cocaine as well. Not against legalizing CBD, just don't think this is the argument to make supporting it.

My favorite part about legalizing hemp, medical, etc is we'll get to see if hemp is actually 10x stronger than steel and cures all diseases.

From the miraculous stories I've heard about hemp I assume we can build space shuttles out of it.

I think I've gotten used to the smell in CA, when I first moved here before it was even legal I'd notice the smell everywhere.

Just a extract of a coca plant.

Yeah but you can't pluck a coca leaf grind it up and sniff it. It has to be manipulated and processed and manufactured. Hicks' point was that marijuana grows naturally on the planet, is harvested in the exact state that it grows and is ultimately used. Big difference.

Cocaine grows naturally on our planet?

I've actually worked for companies that drug test. I actually spoke up against the implementation of the policy and surprise, surprise I was one of the first ones "randomly" tested. It didn't bother me, I was objecting to it philosophically because they only wanted to test floor employees and not management.

Sidebar the plant managers kids house got busted in raid for plants in the attic, the daughters boyfriend took the hit for that. Better to be rich than poor.

Sure. But in a thread about CBD oil extracts, it isn't exactly the natural plant that the legislature is talking about legalizing. The oils are extracted and concentrated just like is done to the coca leaves.

Now? Everyone does a test I think.

I've hired many employees over the years and HR has never had anyone tested pre-employment. That's why I was wondering if companies actually do that.

Fair enough. The Hicks quote was about the natural plant. Anytime I can spread a little Hicks wisdom I try to.
