Taking an advance on an unknown amount of future cash flow is dumb as hell, this isn't like Russell Westbrook who knows he'll be paid forever.

No idea why it's so hard. Just do something simple, like decide to live on 50% of your take home, with the other half put in a trust of some sort. Hopefully, you have a long enough career that you can have it disperse funds over 30-40 years after retirement.

Eh, bad habits die hard. This is telling the kid that this is how he should live. It's why these guys go broke.

Nobody will ever be able to tell me there's not enough money available for more important things for every day people when the kind of money that's being paid to athletes is only going higher.
