What if “Ohio St” Cam Lard showed up the entire year

Hard to tell when buried on the bench....

Do we need to watch out for the Steven Phrom 2nd yr big man drop off?

Jameel McKay
Y1: 3rd Team All Big 12 & Defensive POY
Y2: Nothing

Cam Lard:
Y1: Big Honorable Mention
Y2: Nothing

Michael Jacobson:
???

Fuuuuuuuuu... That sucks, Cam’s super talented. Lard will always be a ‘What if’ situation. This is the first transfer out I’ve been bummed about in the Hoiberg/Prohm era.
As if we didn't see this coming 4 months ago. Dude needs a change of scenery and I hope he figures it out and makes it to the NBA. Clayton Custer leaving was a bigger bummer to me as it kind of caught me out of nowhere and I was always high on him.

Two of those have similar attitudes while the other does not

Jacobson was much better as a junior in Ames than as a sophomore in Lincoln. A rather unheralded Solomon Young was turning into a nice role player, too.

Well he already burned a redshirt sitting out his freshman year so unless he goes to a DII school he'll have to sit out a year to play 1 more year.

Disappointed to see him leave. I was hoping we'd get a happy ending out of this story after all he has been through here. Coach Prohm gave him a chance a lot of D1 schools were not willing to coming out of HS then gave him multiple more chances after he got here when many coaches would have shown him the door. Was kind of looking forward to him focusing on BB this summer and finish out his next 2 years on a high note and hear an emotional senior day speech about all he has gone through but guess we'll never get that now.

I wish him all the best but you have to wonder if once he is away from the great support system he has here if he'll fall victim again to the temptations and bad choices of his past again. I hope not but I think he would have been better off continuing his journey here with a coach that has already gone through a lot with him and didn't give up on him when many others probably would have.

I hope he gets things together - discipline, impulse control, decision making, peers...keys forever and everywhere - and has a good life (hopefully) with or without basketball.

Hope Solomon Young can be healthy and we can have a solid big man rotation with Jacobson/Young/Conditt. None of those three will probably be as dynamic as big Cam's shot blocks but probably won't be as up-and-down either.
(edit: Happy to have been corrected that Conditt is likely to be a prime shot blocker/adjuster too)
