I voted B+. At the start of the year, I wanted to make the tournament again. I thought we would probably be a 7, 8, or 9 seed considered all the new faces both freshman and transfers. But thought talent could be there. Expectations sky rocketed after the Kansas game. Unfortunately some of the bumps and troubles I thought the team would go through happened in February and March and not November, December, and January.

Nailed it.

I voted B but these are my sentiments. (And honestly, with the Big 12 tourney win it's a B+)

I would've given them an A had they won their first round NCAA game.

C- because of the Big 12 tourny, otherwise I'd say D-. Sure we got back to the tournament, but we had a roster that should have challenged for the Big 12 regular season, and at minimum been a 3 - 4 seed in the NCAA. Instead we went 9-9 in the Big 12, and lost first round. Probably the biggest failure of a season in a long time.

I went B-. I think I had higher hopes at the start of the season compared to most and then they went even higher after Maui.
I said B- as well. However, I never got the elation for the expectations after Maui. They lost a late game lead against a decent team, then blew out a very poor team, and then blew out an ok team. I honestly think, had they won the zona game, there was a good chance they lose the next two, and leave 1-2. Same team, but tempered expectations.

I'm going with C+ based on what could have been. The regular season title was right there for the taking, came up short. A good NCAA dance run was right there for the taking, came up way short. Too many bad home losses. Looking at stats on paper and considering last year, I'd probably give them a B+.

C: We had one of the best and most efficient players / 2nd(?) leadings scorer in the conference (Shayok); 6th man of the year (LW); a 5th year starting PG (Babb), and probably the best freshman class in the conference. We were talented enough that a pre-season 1st team all Big 12 player HM all Big 12 player came off the bench. Yet we finished 9-9 after being in the running for the conference championship, behind Baylor, who lost their best player for the season in January.

So yes, we made the tournament, but mediocre for what this team could have accomplished.

If you honestly believe this, then yes, your grade is correct. I don't, so I bumped them to a B-.

Most national experts thought we did. I thought it was interesting Fran thought we had the most talent in the Big 12. I would trust him evaluating talent as much as anyone.

I went with B-. While from a record standpoint, we had a good year winning 23 games. Having said that, I think the biggest thing for me were the losses we had. Losing to some of the teams we did just really stuck with me. I felt that we left a lot on the table so to say. I don't know what happened between the first half of conference play to the second half, but I hope they get it worked out in the locker room.

I did B-

Probably wouldn't be disappointed with making the tourney if you'd asking me in October/November. It just seemed after a while that we were going to be so much better. Hell, I saw stuff on CF and Twitter about DEEP March runs. Darkhorse National Title.

That was crazy. But I'm also a little disappointed in how we lost to OSU.

The KC week was fun, too.

I would like some clarity on this as I'd like to try and understand where some are coming from when they bring up this point.

When did you start believing or thinking this? Kansas State returned their entire starting lineup from an Elite Eight run the year prior. They started 3 seniors and 2 juniors. Kansas had tons of talent to start the year. Injuries and NCAA legal problems hampered them. Texas has had 3 straight Top 10 recruiting classes. I personally feel this became a talking point after we blew out a depleted Kansas team in Hilton and Bill Self heaped tons of praise on our team saying our 4 guards could play for any team in the league. That's probably true but our starting lineup after our first game consisted of 4 first year players. That's a lot of new blood to get to gel and perform at such a high level.

Looking back, I think our guys overperformed in January and we as fans took that overperformance as their baseline instead of their ceiling when everything clicked.

If it was last years team I would give it an A. However, I think this years team should have been a lot better. Overall, we made the tourney and had a pretty good record. So C plus is where I rank it.
