***Official Baylor postgame thread***

What BS. Players can play phantom defense, don't feel the need to box out, etc. and yet stay on the court. TCU and Baylor simply played twice as hard as we did, and you claim Prohm "holds players accountable." Good god.

What the literal ****? Where in anything I’ve written did i even say anything about accountability?

Making stuff up to try to make a ridiculous point is pretty bad

Lol, cmon guys, Im not THAT BAD!!! Im just competitive and want my team to win, the home losses are really what are grinding on my nerves since Prohm got here, I've been to games under Hoiberg and Prohm and it just isnt the same atmosphere anymore.

The players always seemed to get up for any home game, now it seems like they are just going through the motions because they have it in their heads all they need to do is show up and win.

They are more focused on the road I will give you that.

I really prefer a team that is not home demons and road dogs, but this team has flipped things a bit too much the other way

You want a team that plays same level home and away, those are the teams that achieve their goals. LE's teams were probably the last true example of that, did not care where they played, they would play you on the moon if need be and just beat you.

You guys just don't like me because I dont put up with BS. If a team is sucking Im going to call them out and Im not going to sugarcoat things. If they are doing things right Im all about giving them praise.

I guess thats just my competitive nature and the way I was brought up playing sports. I was brought up in an era where you worked your butt off for playing time, if you werent cutting it(aka pretty much everybody last night who refused to rebound) then my coach would find somebody who would. Or if you werent using your head you get benched until you can do things the right way. I also got my fair share of ass-chewings, something that seems to be lost nowadays on these players.

Whats funnny about Prohm is he's a huge disciplinarian when you don stuff off the court, but god forbid you give pathetic effort like last night and you still get the same amount of minutes either way. Talley is an afterthought and Lewis will never see the floor again in this program, but yet guys can do stupid stuff on the court all the time and theyll be right back out there.

This board is a prime example of participation trophy culture whenever something goes bad. We have one segment like myself who want to see this team reach its maximum potential, then the other half dead set on defending anything and everything with the program no matter what happens.

I think Prohm is actually really fair with his minute distribution. Who played more minutes than they deserved last night?

Thank you for your basketball analysis (I mean that sincerely). I went to bed prior to you sending this last night or would have responded then. My apologies for name calling last night as well.

Pretty much agree with most of what you typed. My point on sending more people to the defense glass was that we were still leaking out at least 2 guys most of the time when Baylor took a shot. I think we maybe should have committed all of our players to defensive rebounding.
To me there was one series of plays that points out the difference in coaching between Drew and Prohm. It was in the first half, Jacobsen and Babb had just trapped Mason in front of our bench and he was forced to call time out with 2 seconds left on the shot clock. Baylor took the ball out of bounds on the side about where Prohm normally stands. They had Mason in the corner on that side and their big just outside of the land on the baseline on the same side . The other two players were up by the top of the key. Mason breaks to the lane along the baseline and it appears their big is there to screen him open. Instead Mason breaks off of the screen back to the corner he came from. Babb and Jacobsen both scramble to cover Mason. The guy taking the ball out of bounds lobs the ball over to Jacobsen to their big now on the opposite side of the lane for a two foot bunny with a second to go on the shot clock. I thought it was brilliant on Drew's part to create the action that made it look like Mason was the primary target (and maybe he was) on the near side while setting up the other players above the key so there was not back side help. The play had to be diagramed during the timeout and it was executed very well. I just don't see Prohm coming up with those kinds of things on the fly.

This group lets their guard down too much. Part of the issue of toughness attention to detail from the sideline down.

When I watched us play in Lubbock, I was surprised about how uncommitted to hard screens and cuts these guys are on OOB plays.

I thought the screens to get Lindell his open 3 last night was a good draw up.

Of course they are. They would be fine today. They would have been fine any of the last 3 years.

This is not so much about basketball for a lot of folks. Hasn’t been since he was hired. I remember register articles about his faith, and how people didn’t like that. That he held players accountable bothers people too.
Actually I think Prohm's values are why he has so many strong supporters. He does a lot of off the court things very well. I have to believe any true Cyclone fan is impressed with the player reunion he organizes every summer. He doesn't yell at the refs or his players. He seems to be a a very patient person (maybe to a fault) with a high set of morals. So I think it comes down to what do you want out of your basket ball program, winning at all costs or someone that develops peoples character? I do wish that CSP had Campbell's intensity. I think Matt does an awesome job of maximizing his players abilities.

At what point do people start blaming Prohm? It is his job to get his team prepared and he failed, again. This team is 10 plays or less away from being 24-2. Zero adjustments in the 2nd half, team will be out on the floor visibly exhausted from my cheap seats so how do you now call a time out? Inbound plays are trash, no play calls at the end of the game its 1 pass and shoot at best. Just very frustrating to watch. Some games he looks great and other games prohm is no where in site.

That’s nostalgia over a past that didn’t exist. We had a lot of games in which we didn’t come out playing well. Granted, it didn’t lead to a set of losses similar to KSU, TCU, or Baylor. No Milwaukee games either. But Fred’s teams were late arriving plenty of times.

All of this is exactly spot on. Prohm is afraid to establish standards on effort - or you don't play.
Players don't want to get into foul trouble (heaven forbid they're on the bench and can't jack their 3's), so they mail it in in on D and then talk "tough" in interviews later.

I'm just curious why he is above reproach in your eyes? I'm certainly not suggesting he gets fired or anything, but to some here love to give him all the glory when we win and a free pass when we lose. Last night was as much on him as it was on anyone.

Babb at 38 and Tyrese at 35. Babb really did not give us much in 38 minutes. Also, if Tyrese is going to play 35 minutes he has to have more than one board.

Tyrese gets back in transition defense a lot so he usually only gets long rebounds. Babb had 7 rebounds and 6 assists. I'm fine with their minutes. The only thing I would have changed was probably give Conditt some run instead of Jacobson but Jacobson played the least amount of minutes he's had in any conference game

The problem with the offense the last six minutes was that all they were doing was dribbling or passing around the perimeter and taking jump shots. They didn't seem to be getting in the lane at all.

Agree the play we ran to get Lindell open for the 3 was well designed. We ran a couple of reverse actions for Shayok with a double pick to get him open as well but for whatever reason he didn't seem to want to catch and shoot.

He's not. He literally blamed the entire loss last night on himself too. People get way too high on him after wins and too low on him after losses IMO

Yeah, Babb struggled and Tyrese, while he did hit some threes he didn't do much else. I thought THT needed to be out there more because he has the body to try and block some of the Baylor guys out and actually ripped it away from them a couple times.
