***Official Baylor postgame thread***

Uh oh, this has the makings of a "I'm better than you and a bigger fan because i donate millions of dollars and drive to every home game from Burlington in snowy conditions " kind of post.
Holy exaggeration.
You said he ruined Hilton Magic. I asked how many games you go to.

You have way too big highs and lows.

Nothing new to see here, same Prohm we have seen since he got here and same team all year.

Tactical coaching things - "specials" are bad: inbounds plays, out of timeouts, no 2-for-1s, set plays, etc. As well as in game adjustments, which are MIA. Yes, I am criticizing Prohm here, but for clarity, I am not calling for him to be fired or to bring CFH back. CSP does a lot of things really well (recruiting, player development) but he needs help on X and O. Similar to when CFH brought in Doc Sadler to teach defense one season. CSP needs to be a CEO type coach, with strong assistants to take care of the tactical stuff, IMHO.

And this team this year... they live and die with their shooting. When shots don't fall, they go in the tank on defense and the boards - it's like they give up when shots don't go in. No team in America can be easier to put a run on than ISU. Just wait for ISU to miss, and then come get a layup. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I don't expect either of these things to change this year, kids. So hold on, get ready for 11-7, a couple amazing wins and a couple soul-crushing losses.

Let's hope we don't draw a slowdown, defensive, big guys inside type of team in the NCAAs...

Trying to outdo Jessie is not a good thing, you know that, right?

We have Final Four talent but some nights we give NIT effort. When the tournament starts, we should be focused and able to make a deep run, but I hope we aren't playing our way into a very difficult draw with performances like last night.

For those that are all over Prohm, that he can't coach, can't make adjustments, he's not the right coach for the program, he's ruined Hilton Magic, etc...would you be ok with TJ as our next coach because he will undoubtedly be the man that is hired if Pollard makes that decision. I'm not saying he is good, bad or otherwise, but you best be ok with that hire if you want Prohm gone.

You don't want to open that door. I can't imagine anyone who isn't OK with TJ coming in.

Lon Krueger went to a Final Four recently.

And he likely won’t go to the ncaa this year and he had the best player in the country last year and under achieved.

Even Lon has rebuilding years. Even Lon makes coaching mistakes. Our ****** team and ****** coach last year blew out lons team. How’d that happen?

So if prohm makes a final 4, you’ll excuse all other bad games.

We don’t have final 4 talent. We have ncaa talent. Some nights we play poorly. Most teams have those nights. Some nights we play great.

Of course they are. They would be fine today. They would have been fine any of the last 3 years.

This is not so much about basketball for a lot of folks. Hasn’t been since he was hired. I remember register articles about his faith, and how people didn’t like that. That he held players accountable bothers people too.

At this point we just have to hope we get a good draw in the NCAAs. Iowa, Baylor and TCU were terrible mismatches for us with their size. Or if we do we need to figure out a new strategy.

It’s just frustrating to see the players and coaches put together a great performance in Manhattan, and then lay an egg at home. Still looking forward to March, but damn, some consistency would be nice.

Considering this program has never been to a Final Four thats a stupid question. Pretty sure if Prohm ever got us to a Final Four he can lose however many games he wants.

All I care about or remember is Eustachy won back to back titles and made the Elite 8, I couldnt care less what he did the other 3 years.

Yep.

Frustrating all around. A few thoughts on my end:

1) What kills us is our primary ball handlers' inability to get all the way to the rim. Babb, Halli and Shayok all seem to routinely get cut off at the about 12 foot line. That leads to shorter kick outs and shorter close outs for defense. THT and Wiggy can get to the rim, but sometimes struggle with decision making. We wind up with alot of swinging the ball around the perimeter or 18 foot jumpshots. Not ideal.

2) We need to play through the post more. I never thought I'd say that with this team, but good things seem to happen with Jacobson or Lard get touches down low. We seem willing to throw it in to Jacobson but not Lard. I can't figure out why. Lard is a good passer and capable of making a good post move as well.

3) I think Hilton is unfortunately starting to have a reverse effect. I think the guys have heard the "we don't lose at home" talk and feel the extra pressure to win at home. Where they used to anticipate a run to help seal a game, we now get a little tensed up thinking "here we go again."

4) Babb having some kind of amnesty from the bench needs to end. He played 38 minutes and I just don't think he gave us much out there last night. His deep shooting is off and those pull up 18 footers aren't sustainable. Plus he just looks gassed. There were a handful of times the camera panned in on him and he just looked beat up. 23 minutes for THT is not enough. I would even love to see Talley to give us some more of that straight-line-drive ability I talked about before. His minutes need to be more in the 31-32 MPG range. He's a good player and a valuable piece, but for the sake of the team and his own health come March his minutes need reduced.

5) Prohm's refusal to adjust drives me crazy. We were getting absolutely mashed on the boards and he did nothing to try to stop it. I get we don't have Dennis Rodman on the bench. But for the love of God, try something...? Two bigs? Conditt? Talley? Chew some ass? Anything. His quote about not playing Conditt because they should have been able to handle it (paraphrasing, obviously) was upsetting. They weren't handling it. At some point you have to try something different if the situation dictates it. If nothing else to light a fire under some people.

Just get us to March healthy at this point and see if we can find a way to string together back to back (and hopefully more) games where we show a pulse.

Well then by your standard, Fred did a bad job. He only had 1 sweet 16. Never won the conference. Didn’t even finish in second alone.

It’s idiotic to say that the consistency of prohm and hoiberg is do much worse than the inconsistency of Larry. Also I can guarantee that if Larry followed 2 conference championships with 2 ******* awful seasons, you would not be on here talking about how it is all great.

This one was on the players. Enough of the Prohm hate. They stood around and watched Baylor fly over them and rebounded basically all their misses. Pathetic.

To me it's a chicken-or-the-egg type thing. The guys absolutely could have stood to have shown more effort on the boards. But when that isn't getting done, it falls on the guy making a million dollars a year to do something to fix it. Adjust the lineup. Chew some ass. Something.

Lon was a good coach, but even Lon ages, and that’s ignoring that his model has always been to leave before the fall.

Young wasn’t the best player in the country last year.
