There is one thing I am questioning about your belief that they are 100% nonathletic. Here is the scoop. I just don't see it being logical for them to execute on the offensive end with the efficiency they do whilst, being the athletic equivalent a sack of onions with legs. It is not logical to be "athletic" on one end and not on the other end. They really don't have much length. Garza has a 7 ft wingspan which isn't long for a 6'11 guy and that's the longest on the team. Baylor and Syracuse play real long and athletic guys and that's why their zone works
I genuinely think that the strength and conditioning person that has worked for Fran is awful. The athletes are incapable of moving their hips laterally. I think that the kids get worse because of two factors:
1-Fran is not a great coach. He doesn't come across as overly smart. However; his smugness is top shelf. After time I think his athletes learn to check out mentally when he is coaching.
2-The S&C person is destroying decent athletes with the training methodology. There is something inherently wrong with their movement by their Junior year at the latest. Remember there is also a recurring them with Iowa Basketball-big players largely going invisible for long periods of the game. That is not an athlete that is physically and mentally prepared for an entire 40 minutes.
