I don't know any team with Iowa's athleticism that has had any success playing zone in the tourney. There's a reason Iowa's defense is awful

With their length, it's the only thing that makes sense for them.

Their D is never going to be great. So instead of playing a crappy man to man defense, I'd rather play a crappy zone defense and at least throw a little something different at teams.

They really don't have much length. Garza has a 7 ft wingspan which isn't long for a 6'11 guy and that's the longest on the team. Baylor and Syracuse play real long and athletic guys and that's why their zone works
