I guess Iowa's collapse will start in March this year...

I did. That's how I found out KU lost to WVU and Texas. Woof. Funny you count that as a top-5 win though.
And UM has lost 2 of their last 5 games to unranked opponents by an avg of 12.5 pts and snuck by MN by 2 at home. Glass houses man.

I find it interesting when somebody hasn't posted in 4.5 months and finds their way over to CF after a big Hawkeye win.

Guilty as charged. Not interested in trying to keep up with all the HR basketball threads. I'm not over here being obnoxious about it though. I agreed that Michigan didn't look like a 20-1 team tonight. Nor did I have a single post regarding the Iowa-Iowa St basketball game. That was a big win,

I'd be curious to read about JP's influence on the tourney coming to DSM. I'm not afraid to admit I was wrong.

Drake applied to host the NCAA Tournament a couple times and got denied. I believe Iowa State successfully hosted the wrestling championships which led to us hosting the basketball tournament a few years later. Without Iowa State opening the door Drake/Des Moines wouldn't be hosting.

Makes sense that ISU would swing weight around, and have Drake be the host school so ISU could play in town.

Where you going with this point anyway?

That KU really wasn't a top 5 win. Just like WVU in football really wasn't a top 10 win......or at OU last year, TCU last year. See, when ISU wins against top 5/10 the opponent is always overrated. When they do it, it's legit. When they do it, it's what the opponent was ranked at the time.....when we do it......let's wait until the season plays out. It's the same old tired Hawk BS.

Looks like all Iowa has to do is win out at home or grab a road win if they lose a home game to get in to the tourney. I would say they are a lock now, but...you know...Fran.

You sure aren't very bright are you? Being a Hawk fan, that shouldn't be surprising.

As of the second the clock hit zero last night, Michigan was no longer a top 5 team, you understand that, right?

Who knows, by the end of the season Michigan could be #20.

Sounds a lot like how when Iowa beats ISU, its because its Iowa's superbowl, not because of anything Iowa did to win the game. There's plenty of BS on both sides.

I think some of us are just wondering what the hell ISU beating Kansas, what their ranking was or will be, has to do with anything?

That’s actually not correct. Michigan ceases to be a Top 5 team when whatever ranking you are using no longer has them ranked in the Top 5. If you are using the AP Poll, that couldn’t happen until Monday.

Why do you guys need approval from us after good wins by your team? I didn't see the game, was at a kid's HS game last night, but Iowa won and that is what matters for tournament time. Congrats on the win, because it seems that is what you are over here for. I don't go to Hawk boards since there are enough over here and I don't put so much into my Alma mater's sports team that my mood is up or down pending how they do.

Nice win Hawks, it looked like things were slipping away when the lead was cut to 5 but Garza was a beast in 2nd half, his stretch of 7 straight points slammed the door on Michigan's comeback. There shouldn't be any sweating now, just playing for seeding.

There seem to be two discussions in this thread, how did that win impact Iowa, and the inevitable d*** measuring contest between Iowa and Iowa State.

Based on most of the computer analytics - assuming Iowa wins the games they're supposed to the rest of the way out - the Michigan win probably places Iowa pretty comfortably in the 5-7 seed range. If they want to jump into the 3-4 seed discussion they'll probably need a few more good wins - Ohio St. (away) Maryland (home) Neb (away) -, beat Wisconsin on the road, or make a run in the Big 10 tournament.

As to the d*** measuring, computer analytics still leave Iowa comfortably behind Iowa State with Iowa sitting around 25, and Iowa State in the top 15.
