Iowa offering free tickets for the MSU game

Iowa has struggled getting people to games for basketball for years. You keep hearing the same excuses, 8:00 starts are too late to drive back to Des Moines, hard to find parking, difficult to get in and out of the morgue. I think Iowa just have a lot of fans that do not really care about bb, and its not like football that is an event. I also wonder if Iowa does not have a large corporation ownership, that either are not going or giving the tickets away to their customers.

Iowa has trouble getting students to attend because half are from out of state, and they could care less about Iowa BB, most are Illinois fans, they will come and drink for football, but could not care less about BB.

8:00 is too late and 6:00 is too early... blah blah.

Their game atmosphere is crap, even for big games, even before they hit their annual swoon before missing the tournament.

The best part is that Barta is all in with the Franpire. He even extended him in secret to keep him around as long as possible. They can't afford to move on no matter how far the program falls.

Not enough people in the IC/CR area to fill the place?

Pretty sure the attendance on Thursday will show that it's close to a sell out. Roughly 1,000 tickets left for an arena seating 15.5K is close to a sell out in my opinion.
6.45% is not close to a sell out

I am shocked that nobody has commented on the "storm" theme. Comical that the AD has to look to Coach Campbell. Storm. So very weird that the obsession is deep over there in Iowa City.

Not as bad as when they actually printed marketing posters that said “Carver magic”

ISU students would be sleeping out in tents right now in the snow outside of Hilton if we were playing the #6 team in the country on Thursday.

Iowa students won't go if you give them a free ticket and a meal. Crazy stuff folks.

And to think if enough people show up for the free tickets in Carver on Thursday and they actually fill it, they will take pictures and show it to the world showing how great the Carver atmosphere is.

I could really care less as an ISU fan, but they sure do have trouble getting people to go to the games. I was just listing some of the excuses that I have heard them say. Its really unbelievable that they are playing the best team in the conference, at home, and the game is not sold out, 2 days before the game.

Really I think its just a horrible arena to get too and park, and it must be a pain in the ass after you are in seat to hit the RR or get something to drink. Its just a poor overall set up.

With it supposed to be nasty cold, Iowa should bring the homeless in and they could warm up and get free food. I know it may be a little cruel to force them to watch the hawks, but it would help them out.

But ISU fans count the 56,738 paid attendance number for this game. Probably a discrepancy of over 50,000 fans between paid and actual attendance.

Typical hawk troll, when they start getting bashed on a basketball thread, they bring up football as their safety net. Nice!

Has anybody else noticed that the BTN game graphics does not have the teams’ records by their score, yet every other network(SEC, FOX, all the ESPN’s) I flipped through just now does?

Could it be that they don’t want viewers to know the quality of product that they are watching? Why else would you not put team records on there?

Pretty horrible for their seniors to play their last game in Trice in front of 1500 people. Talk about fair weather fans....

F U!! I was on the sidelines the entire game. Was at Tip Top at 6 am pre game even. I'm far from a fair weather fan. You been to football or basketball game yet this year? Since this is a basketball thread you had better look in mirror there buddy when you can't sell out a game with a top ten team coming to town, with an enclosed heated arena even, and you have to resort to giving trying to give out free tickets. Talk about fair weather fans........... Surely hawk fans will blame it on the weather. What a piss poor excuse.
