How sad is it that you need to give away free tickets to a game vs the #6 team in the country?

Their fans are an embarrassment to college basketball. Imagine us being a top 25 team and #6 KU coming to town. Hilton would be packed and tickets would be $$$.
Kinda long drive for me. If we get free pizza, pop and a clone cone we may go. Wife is friends with Kreiners aunt so we could give that to her.
I actually applaud the Athletic Department for doing this. Sad that they have to, but applaud the move.

I get the idea that not embarrassing yourself with an empty stadium is important......but this is the AD admitting they're doing a terrible job. Part of their job is to sell the program to the fans, they failed, so now they're just begging.
With Iowa's fan base size combined with having a top 25 team, how is this game not sold out? How has it not been sold out for weeks? This is mind boggling.

Maybe they should put some neon beverage signs, pickled eggs, a pool table at Carver. That may make their fan base feel a little more at home.

If I'm Barta I would do some re branding to draw in the true tavern hawk. "Trailer Court at Carver Hawkeye Arena" has a nice ring to it.
