All that I have to say is wow...that guy is a true gamer. He could've told the brewers that his contract was almost up and that he didn't want to risk injury by pitching so much...but no...he took the mound again and delivered a great performance.

Too bad he won't get the Cy Young, but I think that he deserves it.

It also doesn't hurt that the Cubs basically used a bunch of their bullpen guys to pitch today and rested DeRosa and Soto too. Howry again showed why he should not be on the post season roster.

He's leading the NL in complete games, and he's been in the NL for about 3 months.

Gamer?? Or absolute idiot? Potentially 4 starts in 12 days? I'll giggle like a school girl if the guy blows his arm out for a team going nowhere.

You know, I'm a Cubs fan too, but I certainly wouldn't giggle like a school girl at a pitcher blowing his arm out. The guy is a total team player. He's done everything he could to make sure his team made it to the next step.

Yeah, I don't want anybody to get hurt. I have been very impressed with CC. I would love for the Red Sox to get him, but as long as he doesn't go to the Yanks I will be happy for him. In today's me generation of athletes, he is a breath of fresh air. He has done absolutely everything in his power to get the Brewers into the postseason. I think he is the baseball story this year.

Dumb statement if you ask me, if you get in the playoffs anything can happen, I'd hardly say the Rockies of last year or the Cardinals in 2006 were the best teams in the NL but they got hot in the playoffs and carried it to the World Series.

His team started slumping, he picked 'em up, put 'em on his shoulder and wouldn't let them die. A team going nowhere? I'd say there are 22 teams who are "teams going nowhere." I'd love to have that horse at the beginning of my rotation who refuses to let his team die. Laughing at people if they get injured isn't even funny, just bad taste. Any true fan of baseball should appreciate to an extent what he's doing for the game, as well as his team.

The fact of the matter is that you're still wayyyy off base. I'd still like to know why he's an idiot. I mean, heaven forbid he put the team before his own personal achievement and put them in a position they've never been in during my lifetime (born 1989).

If he was your son or brother what would you think. He's most likely a meal ticket for an entire county of people. And spare me the "if he were my son I'd be so proud that he's a different kind of professional" BS. Throwing that many pitches in that short of time frame is dumb and the Brewers could not care less. Don't get me wrong. I get coming back on short rest,....but 4 games in 12 days?

If he was my brother/son I'd say props to you for picking everyone up and being a team player. How exactly do you know that he didn't walk into Mark Attanasio (Team Owner) or Doug Melvin's (General Manager) office and say give me the ball? Maybe he wants to take care of getting everything done he can this year because he knows the playoffs aren't a given every year...

I don't know that he didn't walk in and tell them that anymore than you know he did. Let's assume he did....what are the chances that Doug Melvin said "You know big guy, this may not be a wise move for you and your families long term financial well being"? I'm guessing old Doug said "Giddy-up big fella"

I just think it's short sighted on his part.

I hate the Hawks as much as anyone, but can we move on? Does it always have to be some tired Hawkeye reference. Let's all step it up and find new ideas. These re-tread lines are played.

The only thing tired in this thread is your bashing of the Brew Crew. You should be more worried about what's going on in Chicago and LA than complaining about the Brewers.

Because that'd be complete crap. Most of the studs are playing because they love the game. After a few years at $16,000,000, he's more than set financially. You can't argue the guy has been money in September carrying the BrewCrew (2-2, 42.2 IP, 37 H, 43Ks, 2.11 ERA). The wins/losses may not be there, but one game he gave up 1 earned run and took the loss in a 4-3 game, and the other he gave up 4 and lost 5-4. Why aren't you throwing a fit that in this month Johan has thrown more innings then CC? Or are you too busy giggling like a schoolgirl that he could get hurt?

He's leading the NL in complete games, and he's been in the NL for about 3 months.

If he were on just about any other team in the NL, he'd have about half as many of those complete games.

Not a knock on him - he's clearly a great pitcher. But there were times when leaving him out there was just stupid. I remember a game where they were up 9-3 in the 9th, I believe. Says a little something about Yost, the bullpen - probably both.

Just looked at the Brewers website and they haven't announced a starter. Clearly they want to start CC. If they didn't, they would've handed it to Sheets already. But is starting CC a good move? He pitched well yesterday (against a watered down Cubs lineup). But he looked dog-tired in the 9th. He needed that DP to finish it.

I don't have any real love or hate for the Brewers. I'll liken it a bit to the Big XII. Kind nice to see both Central teams in the NLCS. Legitimizes the division and the Cubs record. And to be honest, the Brewers are the team I fear the least of the three.

I'm sorry, CC must have missed the memo that because Soto and DeRosa were out that he couldn't have a good game. Last time I checked the rest of the Cubs starting line up was still out there trying to get hits off of him...Getting Lee, Soriano and Ramierez (sp?) out a few times must not mean anything anymore.

Another quick hit...I am pretty sure that Ben Sheets has shut himself down for the rest of the season, so Sheets will not be getting the ball for the first game. My guess would be Yovani, CC and then Suppan (hopefully he is still good in the playoffs).

Another thing, I actually think that CC helped his free agency. Now a team knows that they are getting a guy who is willing to go all out and give everything that he has for the team. All he did was help the Brewers end a 26 year drought and some of you (cubs fans who just got beat by him) don't want to admit that there is a good ball player who cares about more than the money. This could be because all that you have (soriano, fukudome, Zambrano) are high paid players who are shaky at times.
