I guess Iowa's collapse will start in March this year...

Fran and Barta are an embarrassment. I cannot believe they have stuck themselves in that spot. An $8M buyout for that guy? Holy ****, Barta must have slept with frans wife or something. There is no other explanation.

Not cool to put that visual in anyone’s head. You are a ****.

I will admit that his court-side demeanor had been surprisingly calm this year. I attribute that to the fact they have been winning. Lets see how calm Fran is when he is 1-6 in conference play. "Mad Fran" is still in there somewhere.

My conspiracy theory is buried in his contract extension is a clause that mandates he take 3 Xanax before every game.

I said last year that Fran had to have been medicated during the games.

They still play Mich, Mich St, Neb x2, Wisconsin, Maryland, OSUx2, and Indiana x2. All teams that are or have been ranked. That’s 10 of their last 15 conference games. They even have Rutgers twice who is a bad matchup for them. I’m not sure they get to 7 conference wins.
watch them lose to Illinois and watch tavernhawk fans try to wrap their head around that.

Deterhawk.....I will take heat for saying this on these boards but you seem a reasonable, humble, realistic Hok fan on this thread.....the exception to the rule(typical fans) that creates the animosity even when the two teams don't play each other.

Naw, dexter is the best hawk poster on CF

My uncle sat somewhere behind the Iowa bench when they played at Illinois either last year or the year before I think. He doesn't follow Iowa basketball but he came away surprised at how anyone could stand to play or work for Fran after witnessing his sideline demeanor up close. Apparently Fran told one of his assistant coaches to "shut the F* up and sit down" once and threw a couple other cussing tirades during the game as well. Said he had never heard a coach cuss so much and treat the people on his bench during a game like he did that night. That was just a take from an outsider who didn't realize that is typical behavior for Fran till we started discussing him more. This topic came up over Christmas again this year so I showed him a few other clips of some Fran tantrums and the chair throwing incident and told him about his childish beef with Gary Dolphin who he won't even talk to right now. He couldn't believe how any school would put up with crap like that, especially one that isn't exactly competing for Big 10 championships in recent memory.

I know no one wants to remember but ISU was 23-3 on a 10 game winning streak as the season wore down in 2001. They needed one win to clinch a share of the league title. They proceeded to lay an egg against Texas by almost 20, play poorly but win against 3-11 Tech at Hilton and then trail again at Hilton at the half but win against a 7-8 Nebraska team who was playing without Kimani Ffriend. They took the #1 seed into the Big 12 tournament and promptly lost convincingly to 8 seed Baylor (shooting 31 percent in the process) and then made 15 seed Hampton's century in the first round of the dance.
Sorry. I don't remember any of that happening.

He doesn't have any other choice. In 9 years he's managed to recruit one decent out of state kid to Iowa City. He thinks he can get away with building a Big 10 winner with just Iowa high school players.

The talent he's pulling now from Iowa high schools isnt anywhere close to what it was 4 or 5 years ago when he had Gessell, Woodbury, Jok, and Uthoff fall right into his hands.
Gessell was such a fantastic below-average ballplayer and Woodbury was such a fantastic villain. I miss those guys.

This just feels like Drake last year where you knew there was no getting out of the hole they are in and couldnt fire the guy because of a buyout, the guy quit and left, it was best for everyone.

My Hawk co workers downplayed last night bc of Garza, they have been hyping up Nebraska all day like they are Duke or something. Just trying to build up Nebraska in to some world beater in case they win, then it'll be a monumental upset.

LOL The majority of the Iowa high school mbb recruits that aren't going out of state to play, have this undying devotion to the U of Iowa mbb program. It comes from their parents/grandparents starting 40 years ago with Hayden Fry and Lute Olson--and brainwashing their entire families.

It doesn't matter how horrible the Iowa MBB coach is (Alford, Lickliter, Fran), these white Iowa kids gravitate toward this mediocre program..
