I guess Iowa's collapse will start in March this year...

I usually agree on Nebraska...keep in mind it’s tough winning on the road and Maryland has talent...Nebraska is more than capable of winning in carver..I do think it’s a game where Iowa shoots like 30 Ft’s..

They are definitely going to try and go back to what worked early in the year. But they tried last night in the second half and once they got to 6 fouls the refs just stopped blowing because they are there to ref a Big Ten basketball game not a FT shooting contest.

Ummm most of us have been predicting an Iowa conference play collapse. I don't recall a lot of praise for Iowa after they spanked us in Carver.
I don't know if I would call a terrible conference record a collapse. I just think this team isn't very good. Their non-con was a bit of fools gold. Oregon abd UConn wins have turned out to be not very good wins. The chances of Oregon righting the ship also probably went out the window with Bol out for the year. ISU win at home with no Wigginton and Young. Beat Pitt by 1 at home. Their record is decent but they haven't beaten anyone good and are going to get their teeth kicked in a lot in conference play. Not to mention Iowa came in with about as much experience as can be expected in the current state of college Bball. Other teams are likely to improve at a greater rate as the season goes on.

Team Rankings still has them projected at 8-12 in Big Ten play. 18% to make the dance. I'm guessing most Iowa fans would sign up for that finish right now.

If they don't turn it around quick things will get real bad... already looking at being near double digit underdogs in 3 of the last 4 games of the year (@OhioSt, @Wisconsin, @Nebraska).

Did not know they ended the season with those three road games. Not good for them.

To get to 8-12 that means about .500 ball the rest of the way. I'm not seeing it yet.

Yeah... that was pretty much my point. Iowa was fools gold.

Yup, that's 3 of their last 4 with Rutgers at Carver Hok sprinkled in between.

Per Barttorvik, those are their 3 toughest remaining games (slightly beats out Michigan and Michigan St at home).

Cook acknowledged afterward that he should have figured out how to best attack the Purdue defense in the first half.

“I’ve got to do a better job of kind of picking and choosing my spots in the first half. Being more patient in terms of waiting till I get the looks that I want,” he said. “I think I did a great job of that in the second half, individually. But it doesn’t matter much because we didn’t come out with the win.”

IMO if Iowa doesn't make the tournament (they wont) Barta has to cut the cord. Baer is gone and Cook isn't coming back to that **** show and Fran has zero talent coming in next year. We all know Barta gives Fran another year it's going to set the program back even further. This is going to be fun to watch :)

Yes, he got in a players face 5 years ago. Must mean he does that on a regular basis.

You can dig up more. All I'm saying is that if this was a regular occurance players wouldn't be sticking around and from what I hear and see...it isn't.

Plenty of things to bash Fran about and I have my beef's...this aspect is way overblown IMO.

I thought Cook played terrific in the 2nd half when Purdue was going through the motions.

How many of the kids on the roster grew up Hawk fans? That's bred into them so I don't think they would transfer out.

Iowa can't afford to fire Fran

They stick around because they all get playing time and half of them grew up Hawkeye fans

Plenty of kids transferred out during Lick's time....some starters. That was a toxic environment.

Not a huge Fran fan here by any means....I think his faults are more X's and O's and recruiting related. Player relations aren't his problem.

Zero defense talk? LOL

You can't be serious. There is a direct correlation between Fran's recruiting and the state of UNI's basketball program... Seriously, outside of Cook, who has Fran really recruited?
