I guess Iowa's collapse will start in March this year...

It’s really funny that many hok fans truly think they are one “fast” PG away from being awesome because they need someone to “break down a defense”. No low IQ hok basketball fan you need someone that can PLAY defense.

They are numerous components away from being decent. As long as barta is there they are screwed.

Defense only matters for B1GSlow football. Maybe you need a refresher course.

The Iowa fans on twitter need to step back from their demands to fire Fran. It's not happening, they're stuck with Fran for at least 2 more full seasons because of Barta's secret extension from last year. Even at the end of this season his buyout is still apparently about $9 million.

Just let yourselves slip into apathy, Hawk fans. Except, you know, that Super Bowl game your guys play every year in December.

The casual “not posting on a rivals internet message board hourly” fan has already checked in to the apathy motel. Probably a while ago actually.

I don’t think that’s what he meant. Runs them into the ground mentally.
I guess i could see that but I'm not sure....I know that's the "mad Fran" perception but by all accounts he's pretty laid back in practice....his players like him. Not a whole lot of turnover/transfers. When there are transfers it's usually PT related....

I think it's simply X's and O's...holding players accountable. Holding players to a standard and creating an identity for the team. I have no idea what he's trying to accomplish on the defensive end....what identity he's trying to instill.

One thing I'll say about Prohm....it seems it's "his way or the highway".....he holds his players accountable. A very talented player like Lard runs afoul....well, he has to work his way back into Prohm's good graces. That's a good thing.....seen it with other players.

Just think there are a lot of misconceptions with Fran....his issues aren't that he's being too hard on the players.

Probably said too much here :)

I honestly think he spends half the time yelling at them and half the time telling them how phenomenal they are
I know you won't believe this and I found it hard to believe but apparently....he doesn't yell much at practice or behind the scenes. Like I said....lots of misconceptions about Fran.

Then it is probably best to stay more relaxed at games. If you practice one way and then go totally off the deep end during games, it does confuse young players. The older I get the more I understand how the calmer approach is a better approach. Rhoads would get all wound up all the time. Campbell will has a few cut loose times, but is generally calm on the sidelines (outside celebrating big plays with his players which I think is always acceptable). Prohm is a little more lively than Fred but I don't think anyone is calmer than Fred period.

Like what?
That he's this ranting, high strung lunatic behind the scenes.

My uncle is a longtime Iowa HS coach (big state fan :)) and has been to a couple Iowa practices....last one was 4 or 5 years ago. Pretty rare but that's what he passed on to me. He was pretty surprised by how low key Fran was in practice. He also got feedback from the family of one of the players that he knows.

Anyway, take it for what it's worth.....

Just saying, if Fran was this in your face coach that berates players I think we'd see a lot more turnover.
