Nate Stanley to return for senior year

Well that's a problem for ISU than too. Montgomery, Butler, Bailey, Spears and Lima this year, Peavy last year, Lazard the year before, etc

Yeah, Lazard had a really tough decision to make- go undrafted after his junior year, or come back to school and go undrafted after his senior year. Really could have gone either way.

The dude is in the NFL now so it's safe to say he had a decision to make. Is Nelson a shoe in to get drafted? I honestly don't know. With his size I would assume so

Stanley is decent QB, his TD to INT ratio is great, but there is no way he is an NFL caliber starting QB, and I do not care where he is ranked on one guys board. How many throws do you see him make that makes a person think "that was an NFL throw?". The long TD pass of 75 yards, I would expect any college QB to make that throw, the guy was wide open. He throws well to the flats, but has little to no touch on the long ball, even though he has a strong arm.

You look at his game to game stats, and he is either great, or just sucks. At the next level, the receiving windows get a lot smaller, that is not his strength. I do think he will get drafted in the later rounds, and get his shot, but I see nothing but a back up at the most for him.

Not that big of a deal, there's still plenty of hookers attending Iowa.

Pretty much spot on.

This got me thinking with how loyal Ferentz is to his QB's. If he had Kempt/Noland/Purdy like CMC had, how much do you want to bet Ferentz rolls with Noland the rest of the year after Kempt goes down and never gives Purdy a chance?

Man, it has been entertaining to see how you handled bowl season. First trolling attendance figures to help ease the pain of Iowa winning and now this route. What's next? Ames has better water than Iowa City smack talk?

I think he's still struggling with how Big Sexy so clearly outplayed Purdy in their respective bowl games, going up against the best D in the nation. It's understandable.

Statistically they were about equal passing actually. Purdy would have been much better if Butler didn't get him that one interception too. With rushing Purdy was clearly better

Not surprising. He's a beast coming from a proven NFL factory. Obviously if this is the same source who told you how much James Daniels hates Iowa there's a big grain of salt with this one. But Nelson would be crazy not to consider it.

Prefacing this by saying I am not trying to compare Iowa State and Iowa in terms of NFL. However...

Factories come in all sizes. There's the New Hollands of the world which make tractors and then there's the John Deere's of the world which make more tractors.
Iowa = New Hollands (respectable factory that doesn't put out eyepopping numbers)
OSU, Bama and LSU are more like the John Deere's of the world.

Try not to confuse the two by your use of "proven" because
Iowa is not in the top 25 historically in number of NFL players (fewer than Purdue)
Iowa is right in the wheelhouse of Rutgers as it relates to current number of NFL players.
Iowa has the same number of NFL HOF members as Lousiana Tech.
Iowa has fewer Pro-Bowl appearances than Syracuse

Iowa makes nice tractors but everyone wants a Deere, just saying

Um, don't know if you got the memo, but Todd McShay had him as a first round pick.

For the 2018 season Iowa has more players on NFL rosters than Texas, Penn St., Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Oregon, Michigan St., Ole Miss, Washington, Nebraska, Mississippi St., and every other Big 12 program.

You can check it out here. Fun stuff.

I saw it, but do not believe it. If Stanley is a first round pick, then the GM of the franchise should be canned the next day. McShay is in love with his size and numbers, that is all. How many NFL throws do you see him making from game to game? How many times does he throw into a tight window and get the ball to the receiver? He is great on lofting the ball to guy in the flats or crossing pattern, that is an easy throw. He made one difficult throw against ISU 2 years ago to win the game, other than that and the OSU game, Nope, Nada.

Constant bragging point from Iowa fans. Question, if Iowa is producing all this talent, then why are they continuing to have 4 and 5 loss season? Answer, because they are not producing skilled position players. TE, yes, but how many WR or RB are you producing? Its lineman, DB's that are making the league, not players that are the difference makers other than TE.

He missed some easy lofts against Penn State.

So TEs are difference makers, and CBs, safeties, OL, DL, and LBs aren't difference makers. Got it.

If they are, then why is Iowa continue to win 8 to 9 games and year instead of 10 to 12? Iowa has no shut down corners, their line is ok, but not unbelievable. When was the last running back at Iowa at rushed for 1000 yds for a season? Iowa is great at producing corners that become safeties and tackles that become guards that the next level. Their players are well schooled and do not make mistakes, but few, some, but few blow you away with their talent level. The TE for SF had a great year this year, I know he was hurt a lot at Iowa, but when he was healthy, why did they not feature him. How do you have Hockenson and only throw him 3 balls in a bowl game, none until the fourth quarter? How do you not have him and Fant out on the field together, instead of having Fant standing on the sidelines?
