So before any Hawk fan replies about me being sour that Iowa State lost to Iowa, just dont. Iowa won. They shot lights out and when they did miss, they got the rebound. I got no answer to that. Iowa won. Stinks really bad, but Iowa won.
But this Pemsl news is just concerning. I am a coach, so maybe that is why this is so wrong in my mind. But the athlete was injured, and I believe injured is the correct term to use (not hurt). He was so injured he could not play any of the games prior to an annual rivalry game, he plays, hasn't played since and they announce he will undergo season ending surgery to repair his injuries. They then announce they will seek medical hardship.
In my 23 years coaching I have never looked at an athlete when the doctor has said they were done, and said "can I get one more play, one more set, one more game, one more race out of you? You are already injured, it's gonna hurt, take this advil or take this cortisone. You are already so injured you can't injure it any further!" Really Fran? The athlete will always say to put them in, it is our job to protect the athlete from their competitive self. Fran flat out violated an ethic of coaching. Fran doing things the right way, huh? He makes me sick.
That's it, venting over. Carry on, carry on.
