Little McCaffery's Status for Thursday

So before any Hawk fan replies about me being sour that Iowa State lost to Iowa, just dont. Iowa won. They shot lights out and when they did miss, they got the rebound. I got no answer to that. Iowa won. Stinks really bad, but Iowa won.

But this Pemsl news is just concerning. I am a coach, so maybe that is why this is so wrong in my mind. But the athlete was injured, and I believe injured is the correct term to use (not hurt). He was so injured he could not play any of the games prior to an annual rivalry game, he plays, hasn't played since and they announce he will undergo season ending surgery to repair his injuries. They then announce they will seek medical hardship.

In my 23 years coaching I have never looked at an athlete when the doctor has said they were done, and said "can I get one more play, one more set, one more game, one more race out of you? You are already injured, it's gonna hurt, take this advil or take this cortisone. You are already so injured you can't injure it any further!" Really Fran? The athlete will always say to put them in, it is our job to protect the athlete from their competitive self. Fran flat out violated an ethic of coaching. Fran doing things the right way, huh? He makes me sick.

That's it, venting over. Carry on, carry on.
I think it is kind of telling, but before we go over board let's remember Jake Knott playing against Baylor when he had season ending surgery scheduled for the following Monday.

Did that surgery end his Iowa State career?

I don't know how this is debatable. They announce his season is over saying he wasn't able to play through the pain. Then he comes back for the Iowa State game and is going to try to play through pain. Doesn't play another game and is going to have season ending surgery. Cordel gave them "Rudy" level inspiration. I'll be anxious to see how they portray Prohm in the movie.

That rivals "Rudy" for pathos.

I haven't been paying attention but is Fran catching some heat for playing the entitled one so much? He's shooting 35% from the floor and 8% from 3 (8%!!!) and he's still getting 20 mpg? He is a very poor defender from what I've seen so I'm curious why he would be getting so many minutes

He's made his bed, eaten his peas, and taken the garbage out religiously. 20 mpg is his reward.

At this point he's running out of options. When you pull your entire starting 5 out at once, it kind of sends the message that you're desperate. But yeah, he wasn't any better than JorBo.

Dailey is putting up better numbers than him and isn't getting 20 mpg

Would you want to go home to “THAT” and explain why Connors minutes have shrunk?

There's a lot of discussion about this "halftime adjustment".
The scrubs didn't really close the gap so it was all message.
I think Minny was still up 16 with 5 something left and trying to coast.

The main halftime adjustment seemed to be trying to make sure the Gophers didn't get a hundy.

The whole send a message to the starters things is hilarious. Fran’s guys are all “tough” right up until the going actually gets tough then they crumble into the fetal position.

I would love to hear a Dolph hot mic on this.

I find this hilarious. You pay more attention to Hawk basketball than their 1000s of fans.

I didn't even watch the Michigan State game and haven't been paying attention to their fan base's reaction to the entitled one getting so many undeserved minutes

Every time I catch an Iowa game there seems to be a play where Lil' Mac gets fouled and he flails his arms wildly. In the replay they show him hitting the opponent in the eye, nose, karate chop to the neck or some other random act of violence. If the officials don't start calling it I think some of the players in the Big are going to start retaliating.
