Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Fran is literally the opposite of Bill Self.

He has no doubt struggled in this realm. Most of his teams have not been clutch. Have watched a number of games where they go 14-16 from the FT line the first 35 minutes and then 3-8 down the stretch with some missed one and ones.

From what I've seen of him, he plays hard and isn't afraid to shoot. Seems he likes to take some ill advised shots early in the shot clock, but he is a good player.

The fact he's averaging 20 ppg while shooting 53% from the floor is absolutely insane

Almost hurt my arm patting myself on the back with this preseason prediction.

Speaking of mid major players. What happened to Bohannon? I thought he was hurt last year and that's why Iowa sucked but he's 100% this year? His numbers are awful:

Freshman: 10.9 ppg, 5.1 assists, 41% 3 pt
Sophomore: 13.5 ppg, 5.4 assists, 43% 3 pt
Junior: 9.3 ppg, 2.5 assists, 32% 3 pt

Woof. Junior slump I guess?

Holy ****, Iowa goes to the line 37 times to Western Carolina's 18. 16 point differential in free throws is pretty much the difference in the game.
I didn't watch and forgot they even played. Just looked at the box score. I would say the 26-10 turnover difference might have played into the score too. And you mean Iowa doesn't shoot 60+% from three every game?

Don't think it's been talked about since it went official, but as we all suspected, Cordell Pemsl had his season ending procedure completed after playing only in the game against us since the first time they said he'd be out for the year. So essentially he just played the part of the goon in hockey terms for them that night.

Because, Super Bowl.

The important thing to remember is that by beating ISU at home, Fran keeps himself off the hot seat and in that job another year with .500 ball in the new year, just like always. That's all Barta needs him to do, which is cool because it's pretty much all he's capable of doing.
