From what I have heard Michigan wanted him to visit and told him they would offer him once they get him on campus. So, a more committable “offer” than the one Breece Hall had from Michigan.

Iowa fended off Michigan for Goodson the same way Iowa State fended off Alabama for Purdy. Actually a pretty spot on comparison.

I’m sure that offer meant a lot to Brock when he asked the Alabama staff if it was committable and they refused to return his call.
My question was about an offer. You said Iowa fended off Michigan. You can’t fend off someone if there is no offer.
Put offer in quotes as much as you want, it’s still shows Brock and Breece had something Goodson didn’t.

What good is an offer if it’s not committable, and how does it put a recruit in a position that is any different than a recruit without an offer?

I’m not struggling at all. Goodson didn’t have an offer from Michigan and wouldn’t have been able to commit there. How is that any different from Hall, who did have a Michigan “offer” but similarly could not commit there, or Purdy, who had an “offer” from Alabama but also could not have committed there?

The original post was tongue in cheek and I thought that was quite obvious. Iowa’s QB in this class picked up an “offer” from Georgia a few months ago, but I’m not so delusional as to think that Iowa actually beat Georgia for a QB recruit head to head. Apparently that is a perspective that many Iowa State fans are not capable of adopting when it comes to their own recruits.
