Lol, where did I say they couldnt? I've been to Ames plenty of times as Im sure other people in Des Moines have. Im simply pointing out the convenience factor is a real issue.

That is shortsighted as hell. Thankfully you aren't in charge of marketing.
It really isn't that much of a stretch to believe there are people willing to pay $75 for a chance to watch ISU live on the lower level, is it? They aren't going to get that opportunity at Hilton unless they happen to know someone.
Completely disagree, its a huge convenience factor if you live in Des Moines. The same with concerts now being at Wells Fargo instead of Hilton.
For those saying Wells isn’t a good basketball venue, I don’t agree. The problem has been mentioned many times. Not many give a rip about the game their team isn’t playing.
When Iowa State played Creighton a few years back, the atmosphere was amazing.

Lol, says the guy from the northside of Ankeny who lives closer to Ames than Des Moines.
I live south of Des Moines. 20 minutes to the Well, an hour to Ames. And I can tell you it would never cross my mind that this is "my chance to watch Iowa State" because they are coming to Des Moines. It's a damn hour to Ames.

We can cater to the Des Moines market without benefiting the other D1 programs.
You are upset that it's ending. It's unfortunate for those that enjoyed it. I care far less than my time spent in this thread would indicate.
That said, this is my last post on the subject. Good riddance stupid event that involves forced cohabitation with Hawk fans! I wish UNI and Drake the best moving forward.
So if you lived close to Hilton or on campus would you rather drive all the way down to Des Moines or simply go to a game that takes you 3 minutes to get to?

The event demonstrated a lot of ISU fans were supporting this game because it came to DSM. I attended most years and I"d say the last few years 60% or more were easily Cyclone fans.
Additionally, the comments on this forum from season tickets holders is almost unanimous that they didn't like this event....so it is only reasonable to assume it was attracting another fraction of the fanbase.
I live a half hour closer to Des Moines than Ames and I would rather we not play in Des Moines and have an extra game in Hilton. Believe it or not but as an Iowa State fan I like Hilton and would rather sit at a game there. So if you lived close to Hilton or on campus would you rather drive all the way down to Des Moines or simply go to a game that takes you 3 minutes to get to?
You're a really weird dude
Parking at Hilton>Parking around Wells. Why, because Im excited to see Iowa State in my own city, where I have to drive 5 minutes, dont have to deal with idiots parking, and can hangout with my friends downtown before the games?
Bull****. Anyone can get tickets for the break games in the lower level for $20 in Hilton. That is shortsighted as hell. Thankfully you aren't in charge of marketing.
