Thats because you switched up and edited your post on me, I understand what you mean now about paying 2 games for 1.

Lots of hot takes in this thread, lol.
My thoughts on why it didn't work:
1. As many have said, Iowa ended it due to their new scheduling. So technically that's the answer.
2. Someone did mention tv coverage, and I agree....it's kind of "out of sight, out of mind" if you do not attend and that may have contributed to less interest.
3.
LOL.I certainly can't argue with your 3rd point!
Bah, to this. If you don't want to play us in Hilton, see you in the NCAA's or not at all.
By the way you never have said how many times you've went to Iowa City to support the Cyclones.
I'm not triggered by Iowa. I just won't watch them or give them any of my money. It's really quite simple. You're so triggered by Iowa basketball that you wouldnt pay to see Iowa State because Iowa is playing on the same floor the same day?
So I guess if we both got put in the same location for the NCAA tourney, but we were in completely different regions you wouldnt even go to an Iowa State tourney game against say Villanova or Duke?
Wow, just wow.

I'm totally confused. I'm not mad at a single person that chooses to go to the event. Furthermore, why would I care if you go to a Drake game? I have no ill-will towards Drake at all. Even if I hated them I wouldn't care who attended. Maybe we are discussing different things. I've certainly done that before.Thats the spirit, even though i dont give a crap about Drake basketball and hate them when they are playing Iowa State, every 3 or 4 years I actually do something as crazy as pay $15 bucks to go watch them in the Knapp Center.
Its 5 minutes away from my place and sometimes I want to watch some basketball on cold winter nights.
Did I edit a post? I admit to being mightily confused.Sorry, I responded to the wrong guy, I was responding to @Cydkar
It is "how many time you've gone" (not went)
Only once, but that doesn't mean the players don't appreciate ISU fans in the stands regardless what I may or may not have done.
Honestly, this is the main argument you and capcity fall back on. And no offense to your mutual love of Des Moines, but...I think its been great for the city of Des Moines.
Iowa State got them the NCAA tournaments. I think ISU has helped DM and Wells Fargo quite a bit when it comes to basketball.
Funny - you didn't correct that same error in jereseib's post...It is "how many time you've gone" (not went)

Who cares???
If it's good for the Cyclones, then by all means continue it. Apparently JP doesn't think it is, so I think I'll go with his wisdom on this one.
It’s the same reason most other programs don’t schedule instate mid majors on the road or at a neutral site.I guess Im just confused on why this isnt good for Iowa State? Is it lost revenue from one extra home game in the non-conf? Or are we legitimately scared to play teams like UNI and Drake anywhere else but Hilton for the fear of an embarrassing loss?
If its option 2 thats pretty weak imo. I can't imagine Pollard stooping to that level. This is what Fran wanted because hes too scared of playing UNI away from Carver and getting another loss with the 20 game Big 10 schedule.
If it means scheduling another good team in Hilton then so be it, but if we take Frans route and schedule DMACC in Carver as a replacement because he's so scared of more losses than thats pretty weak imo.
Drama much? Des Moines is 30 minutes away.Alot of people must care because I would say at least 5 out of the 6 years Ive been going to this thing the place has been packed to the rafters. The only exception was last year when we had 4 really bad teams squaring off.
I dont know where you are getting this "love" of Des Moines stuff either, its not too much to ask a huge university close by to play 1 neutral site game here every year or so. For the 100th time, most big time programs do this to give fans in other parts of their state a game.
Iirc the state of Indiana does something similar to the big 4 classic with all their programs both high Major and mid major. It’s the same reason most other programs don’t schedule instate mid majors on the road or at a neutral site.
